Re: Dropping the tank tomorrow
try the nuts on the straps first if they dont wanna come off just get new ones (straps) from parts store FIRST.......to drop tank grab a floor jack a block of wood 4 x4 and/or a 2x4 i use both for my jack wont reach w/out both... clean it they have a por 15 cleaner / sealer (type) you can buy at most parts stores... and the first thing GET OUT AS MUCH GAS AS YOU CAN splashing can/will occur and it tastes like sh*t GL my friend

Re: Dropping the tank tomorrow
I dont need to place an ad, all I gotta do is turn my back and its gone. They get the gas while the car sits on my carport because I only have a 2 car garage. I do not want to put a locking gas cap on because I am afraid they will drill a hole in the bottom of the tank. JB

Same thing I just told the guy with the hopper... put a piece of rubber from a bicycle intertube in between the new strap and the tank while you are down there.

Re: Dropping the tank tomorrow
Might be a good time to put a new sending unit on that if you haven't thought of it already. No better time than now, especially if its still the original one. One other idea for you, if you old tank cleaned up nice, or if you got a new one, a suggestion might be to undercoat the top of the tank and around the edge of the seams. Condensation tends to collect and sit on the tops of the gas tank. Eventually it leads to rust, or little pins holes. That happened to mine some time ago. Don't forget a new fuel filter!

Re: Dropping the tank tomorrow
yep did all that, new fuel lines, filter and sending unit, the tank was stripped to metal and i coated it with sealer same i used on floors, its just in a tube not spray undercoat
