i have them, but off a monte. mine DO not look like that (physicaly) wise. mine only have 1 hole for the tranny mount.

BTW-- i tried to put a monte c-m under a 76 cutlass and it was not wide enough. dont know if there is a difference or not. scratch

My manual shows the bolt holes in the frame, for the cross member, to be 54 1/2 " apart ( on center) That's for all the frames in the A body mid 70s cars. Might be a handy number to check on a cross member for fit.

Except the models with a boxed frame, such as Elkies. JB

Rago wrote:I got to thinking about it, what transmission is this for? Possibly this is the reason that yours has two mounting holes where Chris' only has one (different transmissions). It just hit me while I was cleaning up the non-sense.

BTW, if I didn't already have a dual hump crossmember I'd be next in line after OJ. Good luck on the sale.

my monte had a factory 400 in it.i put a 350 in it and used the same 1 bolt mount. go figure scratch

Think the issue with single mtg bolt vs dual might have something to do with the "saddle" that mounts between the c/m and tranny. I have one I pulled off a '74 Lemans w/350 and the c/m itself has one mtg hole. However, that is used to mount a "saddle" that, it turn, has two mtg holes for the tranny. I've got the whole set-up it anyone wants a pic. By the way, it only measures about 52 1/8" end to end. Thought that was the same length as needed on Montes...that's why I kept it.

Of course a mount for the type of car it came from would still work OK with the trans.
My manual doesn't mention anything in the frame drawings about the Elco frame being different, and it's an El Camino/Sprint manual, so I would have to measure my own frame to verify the 54 1/2 " spec I posted. I always look for a '73 or '74 cross member for the later converter equipped cars with the single hump cross member. The one in my Elco came from a Chevelle.

both styles were used on these cars, 73-74. my 74 had the tube style. my 74 4dr that ended up being a parts car, had the stamped one.
