Re: i hate hail
that sucks, we had a bad hail storm few years back, one of my good friends had pushed his chevelle outside to work on his buddies tractor for a couple of hours in his shop....well the chevelle looks like a golf ball now, his truck had busted windows and he had massive holes in his roof.
Luckly I didnt get anything a couple miles over.

Re: i hate hail
The same hailstorm that Dan was talking about ruined my 96 Eclipse, a Honda Accord that I had, & busted all of the glass out of my house. It looked like a tweaker took a ball-peen hammer to the Eclipse.
I'm told that somehow dry ice will fix the dents, just not sure the exact method. Might be worth looking into.

Re: i hate hail
I'll second that AZ hailstorm.... brutal. They were huge. It's not something we see here very often and a lot of cars got damaged.

Re: i hate hail
its kinda funny to see a lot of these new cars driving around because their so thin compared to the older stuff that they just got destroyed. ive seen a lot of brand new cars just trashed and saw a peice on the news a bout the dealerships and they are trying to get rid of em at a discount price

Re: i hate hail
I always carry a moving blanket or old comforter in my trunk to protect my car in case of a hail storm. I dont know about golf ball size but Ive never seen anything like that here either.

Re: i hate hail
I was talking to my mom this weekend about the hail storm. She works for State Farm. She told me there were 8,000 auto claims, even more property claims and State Farm is considering the storm a disaster. This doesn't even count the cars that got beat up at the dealerships, as they carry their own insurance. NASTY!

Re: i hate hail
I was caught on the 17 when it hit, and parked under a overpass. Non of my cars were damaged, except the wife's mini-van has a few roof dings in it. But the good news is I'm getting a new roof, and garage door for the house due to the damage. The roof was in desperate need of replacing, so it couldn't have happened at a better time

Youtube vid on how to repair hail damage with CO2 and a hair dryer,
I've also personally seen a guy remove some small hail dents by heating the area then rubbing it with dry ice. watched him pop out four or five marble size dents by just rubbing the ice over the dent in a circular motion after the area was heated up...the metal contracted and POP, out came the dent. cool stuff.
