New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
Hey all. I'm a school bus shop foreman from Pittsburgh, PA. My g3 ride is a '73 Buick Century 4 door. It had a 350-2 barrel, that was not healthy and i blew up. Then i put a '73 455 from a riviera in it. Re-gasketed and gone through with lots of new parts. I have under $1500 in a sleeper/daily driver/work in progress that runs great and surprises alot of people. I am also working on a '75 Pontiac Catalina that i'm swapping a built Caddy 500 into.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
It's not too bad. i feel like if i had wider tires up front, it would corner better. it's got stock springs and new shocks. I think that the extra weight of the big block was offset by the removal of the A/C compressor, condenser and lines.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
i think if i pulled up to that car at a light i would not question it for the wide tires on the back and nice sounding exhaust, I would just roll with it
love the stance brother, now find some dog dish buick center caps and be all set

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
Thanks, limey. and speaking of stance- your laguna or malibu, or whatever it originally was looks sick with the slots and tunnel ram. i was looking at your project pics thread, and i can def appreciate your style. You'd be happy to know that my other project (catalina w/ cadillac 500) has big 'n little cragar ss's and big block chevy fenderwell headers with no inner wells. and i've been throwing around the idea of a buick stage 2 mailbox scoop on a blacked out hood.

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
just yanks the ol skool cragar ss's off the 73 SS tonight, install some cragar steel street stars. Pics coming soon. the cragar ss was 10 wide and 4 wide. 15".
Love the 4 door big block with big n lils
So heres the question im always asked, why a 4 door?
I got a 71 malibu 4 door that I got from Rago on here, I got a 427 in the works for it right now, but the original 350 is still kicking hard at the moment, Its all original too. Still has GM belts and the AC works.

Hey, jason. i'm from Erie originally. And you're right- a big block definitely helps for pulling the hills around here. That car climbs effortlessly. What year caprice did you get? I had a '78 2 door with the aero-coupe style rear glass. One of my favorite cars that i've had!

Re: New guy from Pittsburgh, PA
Yeah, the first thing i thought when i saw this Buick was that i was gonna do it up like a cop car, sort of a kojack theme... but who knows how it'll end up. I want to paint the whole car black and get dog dish caps and the thin "hot rod" style beauty rings. Lowered about 2" all the way around, with beefed up rear control arms and heavy sway bars. This car is actually not my top priority, right now, though. I have my 500 caddy motor in the machine shop, and i already have about $2000 into the short block. The heads are going to run me another $2000 and and then with all the hardware and incidentals, i'll probably be into it for about 6 G's total. Sometimes i'm jealous of you small block chevy guys...
