Gear Selector Wire

The wire for the gauge selector has rubbed a grove into the plastic on the cluster and doesn't seem to operate that smoothly. Any ideas on how to allow the wire to move more freely? I thought about adding some epoxy in the groves but with my luck, I'd somehow epoxy the wire to it as well.

Other than epoxy, maybe filling it with a plastic weld kit? If it's ABS plastic you could try to fill with ABS cement and sand when it hardens.

Maybe file or sand it lightly to smooth out the grove?

I agree, file it or sand it just enough to get out the sharp edges. Then put some graphite powder on it to keep it moving freely.

Sanding was a good idea but my patience wouldn't tolerate it, lol. I ended up adding epoxy to it and it seems better.
