Just picked up this 1976 Laguna S-3 today with original paint and drive train. Floors and trunk are rusted pretty badly but strangely enough there is no rust on the roof where the vinyl top used to be installed. Still not sure if I'm gonna part this out or try to get it back on the road. It does run but the trans has a serious leak and the brakes are shot. I guess this in one of those things to sleep on before I move forward with it.

Dude! You are the man. I will give you the brakes off of my old frame. You have to keep it. Let’s make a drag car out of it.

Yeah...I'd say brakes are the least of your problems. I brought home a '76 Laguna one time and the severe trunk/qtrs/floor rust was reason to sound the death knell...even though I drove it about 100 miles home. At least five yrs ago or so, scrap prices were at their high and it was easy to sell parts. Today, scrap prices are near their lowest and parts aren't exactly flying off the shelf anymore...unless, you're willing to give them away.

Hey 77. I think his trunk is ok. It’s his truck that’s rusted.

g3, I just rescued a kitten from the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant a couple of weeks ago. If I kept that kitten, then you have to keep that Laguna. It’s an S3 model you know.

Hey Revin Kevin! I quickly repaired my "truck" issues and now only have to work on the "trunk" issues lol. I'll make you a deal. You come up and help with this beast and we'll make it into a NASCAR tribute that can go 200 mph!

I am doing that right now. Well, now is a relative term. I haven’t touched it in 9 months. I hate my life.

I wish we could find them rusted like that in our neck of the woods! My 2009 Sierra is much worse!

The rust on this one is repairable for sure. Spent most of its life in Arkansas. Then the last couple of years here in Texas. My first Laguna I bought right out of high school was originally from New York. So as you can imagine, it whistled down the road when I drove it. The main reason I bought this one was for the original stripes that are still on it. The paint is untouched except for the front drivers fender. Gonna try to make a stencil from it to use on my 75 Laguna restoration.

I was thinking something along those lines as I looked at it -- way better shape than a NY car. Smile

Arkansas, hum. Where you able to salvage the Clinton bumper sticker? How bad is the nose of the car? Did you decide if you are going to part it out?

I would be very interested in seeing a stencil made and duplicated for the stripes. Would like to add stripes for my '75 when the time comes to paint. Wished I'd done that when I had the opportunity some years ago.

No Slick Willie stickers on this car. He may have been one of the guys Arkancided back in the day. But I did find this cool bumper sticker on that 74 Camino I parted out.

I'll let you know if we're successful with the stencils. One of vendors feels confident they can do it.

My car did not have the stripes, I would be interested in a stencil if it can be done.

I'll let you know if we are successful with the stencils. Worst case scenario I'll take details pictures of each panel and overlay the exact measurements on those photos and share them with everyone here.

It does help but the photos don't include the front part of the fender where it meets the bumper impact strip. The stripe actually narrows down to match the width of that impact strip. So that is the part I've been missing. Also, the rear of the stripe where it meets the rear bumper is not touching the side marker lights on my car. Maybe some cars were painted differently at other plants across the U.S.???
