Just changed gears from 2.73 to 3.42 on a stock 350 4bbl T350 with hooker long tubes and wow! Driveability around town +100%

Nice to hear. I always recommend a gear change as a first mod to wake things up.

also on the driveability bit, gear shifter was indefinate and didnt work as it should, tightened it up and works like it should and combined with gear change its a good improvement

Re: Gear set..nice difference
A 1 number change in gears is usually a big difference in driving. My 79 had I think 2.73’s in it and I went to 3.73’s and the car went from 15.20 to 14.12 in back to back weekends at the track.

Does it shift too quick at part throttle for you? Mine did, so I ground some weight off the governor weights to raise the shift points a bit. Adjusting the vacuum modulator just wasn't quite enough.
The downside is that you can spend an entire day just sneaking up on the desired result vs a few keystrokes for a computer controlled transmission.
