Big Block Chevrolet Bracket and Pulley Locations
Hey. As I was sitting and cleaning my pulley and bracket pieces I just received for my 496 project I realized that I have no idea how they actually bolt onto the engine. Do any of you great G3 members have a pic of your big block with AC that shows the brackets and pulleys? I am going to paint them tomorrow and I wanted to start bolting them on. This is what I have, in filthy form. Thanks.

1: bolts to front of driver head. Main AC bracket. bolts to 3 holes in front of head.
2: Bolts to intake stud and supports AC pump. 3 & 4 swivel on this for belt adj.
3: bolts to rear of AC pump
4: bolts to front of AC pump
5: bolts to driver head, right above ex manifold and under valve cover, supports AC pump. 2 bolt holes in head for this bracket.
6: PS bracket, the slide part bolts to water pump for belt adj.
7: PS bracket. Bolts to block, driver side.
The rest are alternator, goes together much like a small block. The AC brackets are for the large A6 style pump. My car is put away and hard to get to for pics.
I had to ditch bracket 5 because of header clearance, with some welding and grinding it could be used but I haven't had any issues without it.

No problem. You should be able to mock up the brackets and figure it out with the motor on the stand. Might also help if you have the AC pump and PS pumps laying around.

Bring your brackets over to my shop and sand blast them in the cabinet. Then we'll powder coat them if you want. Just got all my powder coating equipment last weekend from my friends shop up in Willis.

You are a tick to late my friend. I just finished getting them down to bare metal today. You can even read the part numbers. Thank you very much though. BTW, I was just working on my car and I am going to move the battery from the trunk to under the hood. I don't have a battery tray under my hood anymore. Do you have one??? My trunk in going to turn out pretty good and I don't want to have the battery back there. I also need to pick up the licence plate bezels as well. You are so invited to my house.

Good used battery trays are like finding an honest politician. I have one good one going in my 77 El Camino project at the moment. I think The Parts Place has a repop for $65. I'll be in Deer Park in the morning picking up a couple of parts from a guy that bought my 77 Malibu last year. If you want I can drop by after that to give you your license plate bezels.
