Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
Bought my wife a 74 Buick Century Luxus she had one in high school. Got it for a steal kid was going to crush it. No engine or trans and needs a floorpan and rear bumper but other wise in good shape. Now my question is the rear bumper cant seem to find one. What other cars fit this besides of course my Malibu. (too heavy to change back and forth for shows LOL) and second does anybody out there have one they are willing to part with? Will post some pictures later cant do it on work computer.

Nice save, Tom! I'm familiar with these cars as I've helped find parts for a guy in FL doing a '76 Regal restoration. One of the yards I frequent has a dozen or so '73-'77 Buicks that are mostly intact. And, maybe 3-4 are '74/'75's that share the same rear bumper (Regal/Century/Luxus). Couldn't tell you off-hand whether the bumpers are good, as I rarely bother with them. Be happy to check on them once we get thru this coldest part of winter and I can get out there again.
Of course...if you want to spend the big money, you could probably find a nice one at Desert Valley Auto in Phoenix. I'll be down there in about 10 days and always take an afternoon to run over there to browse the yard. I could at least inspect them for you.

Desert Valley is terrible I used to live in Phoenix. As we are just starting on this build please keep you eyes open when in the yards. Can is going to be a driver so not real picky just want something better that the cut up one on the car. Thanks for responding.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
Been busy here are some more. Been looking it over to see what we need. So far it needs a full floor pan and all brake lines besides the obvious. Only real rust is on the lowers behind the rear wheels. Rest is from where the kid hit it with a grinder.

Holy cow, that avocado interior is a dang time machine. I feel like I need to check the shag carpet for beer can pull tabs.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
I'm not so sure there IS any significant difference between floor pans on Centurys/Cutlass/Chevelle. Â I cut out the entire floor pan from a rust-free '76 Regal on the assumption I could use part of it for floor pans if needed once I get around to pulling up the carpet on the Laguna. Â My Hollander interchange manual doesn't list floor pans, either.
BTW...I remember when paisley print was the big fashion statement back then...lol!

The seats are jammin. One of the reasons I like the mid/late seventies cars is the interiors and graphics you could get on them.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
OK now remember this is the WIFES car so here are the plans to date. She may always change my mind later. 455 freshen up with a cam of course. T400 rebuild with a kit of course. Interior original with black carpet once holes fixed. Exterior color silver with deep green rally stripes w/ghost flames same painter that did malibu. 15" buick rally's with the centers same color as the rally stripes. Raised white letter tires. Thats all for now. No time frame yet still moping up the Ambassador.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
www.V8buick.com can be a source for Buick colonnade parts. There were a pair of clean '75's in an East El Paso (TX) yards a few years ago, but aside from a pair of bumpers I sent to a restorer in the upper Midwest, nothing else sold.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
I follow V8buick forum just to see what those guys are up to. Seldom see anyone with a '73-'77 posting up on it. It's all about Skylarks.
I've tried saving parts from these cars before they were crushed...but, there just doesn't seem to be any demand and so I've given up.

I belive the floors are the same as chevelle. It is going to be a sweet wife cruiser when done. I love the interior and it looks to be in good shape. Im happy you saved one more, it should be against the law to crush a Nice car like that.

Re: Just bought a 74 Buick Century need some help.
Hours wasnt bad but Carbondale got bad ice on the trees could hear them falling while we loaded the engine. For any of you who feel like a good laugh the wife and I started a youtube channel on this project and some other things we are into. Its at Americaniron Addict on you tube. Be kind first try at this. Old dog learning new tricks.
