Hello all, I am doing so research on putting a 700R4 in my 76 Malibu. It will have factory bucket seats and console with floor shift. Has anyone got the factory shifter to work with all four postions in the manual low?
Or has anyone put a aftermarket shifter into the factory console and made it look good? I would like to be able to pull the 700R4 into low gear and wind it up to the shift points and feel the shift kit.
Love to hear what other people have done when putting overdrive transmissions in their car. Thanks

I know guys who have done it with a column mounted shifter and all gears work as they should, even on the indicator. I'm not sure about floor shifters but the guys purchased their shifter indicators and metal tab (forgot what its really called) that gives the sifter the extra gear, all from this site.

I watched a car show and saw them doing the 700 swap to a 72 Chevelle from a turbo 400. They had a bolt on retrofit kit to switch the factory shifter making it into a 4 position unit and they offered a indicator plate also.
Sorry I cant remember what show or the company that sold the kit.

I just looked on the shiftworks site and if you look at the 68-75 GTO shifter, then scroll to the bottom of the page, I believe that is the shifter used in 73-77 Chevelles.
