3.23 posi
So I guess the good part of getting old is having a large parts stash. I have a 3.08 posi our of my 80 camaro sitting in the shed and figured it would be a good swap for the open 2.73s. But I also mess with 73-87 trucks specifically 4x4s and one of my good buddies has a set of 3.23s. I was thinking this would be a much better but not as deep as a 3.42. I figured this was a good compromise with the l65. Any first had experience? I will be using a 235 60 15 tire.

I'd go with the 3.23 since you have them. But if your buying gears I'd go 3.42 or 3.73 and increase tire diameter to where you like your rpm range.

Re: 3.23 posi
I can get any thing from a 2.73 to 4.10 but for now I think they will be good with no overdrive. Hope after the big block is built that I can get mpg out of it by turning it 1600 at 65. I was thinking about 3.42 but even with a 275 60 it would be a little high at 70. I have 4.10s in my camaro with 29.5" tall tires and scream it at highway speeds but this is more of a cruiser.
