For the elco guys.  Could you tell me what the 2 thin trim pieces in the bottom of the pic are for?  Where do they go ?  Will they fit 73-77 or are they a one year only 73 thing ?   Thanks in advance.

I don't think I have those on my 77. How long are they? They might be the vinyl top moldings.

You might be right. Didnt think of the vinyl top. These are 18 1/2" long overall. Not taking the curve into consideration.
Does that sound right for the vinyl ??

thanks

I'm not home right now, but later I can measure the body on mine and see if that measurement is about right. A set just sold on eBay on Wednesday, with clips for $75.

I measured mine. Not knowing exactly where they would go, it looks like 18 1/2 might be a little long. Looks like it might be closer to 16 to 17. Maybe someone else will have a set of the moldings and they can give you a better answer.

In the GM crash estimate guide I have, they list the part numbers as 9611780 and 9611781.

Here's a handy schematic w/GM part numbers for you El Camino owners trying to hunt down parts. These are available for other models as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Next el camino question.

Does the el camino/sprint have a slot in the bumper for the hook on the jack like chevelle/malibu ??

Does this thing hook to the bottom of the bumper on el caminos then the jack hook goes into the slot ??

Reason I ask is because I think i have one of these in a box.

The two top ones in the pic are corner pieces for the bed trim where it goes up over the rear window.
I have one of the lower ones in the pic, which was still on the Elco body that I bought......which is now my finished Elco....

Truth is, I never like vinyl tops on older cars, after dealing with rust under them...

I have some trim for the rear window & some bed trim if anyone ever needs any...

I got it on the vinyl trim. Didnt want to start another thread about jack parts.
Wondering about this piece for a camino sprint.

Joe...check out this e-Bay listing that shows a complete jack setup for a '73 El Camino.  It shows that piece...and, how it attaches to the jack.  This happened to come out of the SS I posted about that is being parted.  Looks similar, if not the same, as what came with the Lagunas for use on the urethane noses.

I checked out that listing and it only mentions chevelle. From what I'm thinking is that the piece would be for the rear bumper of an el camino and, from what your saying, the rubber nose on a laguna. No slots on either of those??
I never looked closely at a laguna nose or a camino rear bumper. But does that sound right that this "hook" piece is for them???

The Ebay pic of the jack & what goes with it, is what I have in the '75 Elco. '73--'77 all the same of course.
Don't remember what's in the trunk of the '74 Malibu...never had a flat with it !! Very Happy

The guy who listed it is mistaken.  I'm here to tell you that jack A$$'y came out of the '73 El Camino SS.  They told me about it when the car came into the yard, but nobody in the office could tell me where it was.  The interior was original and complete, so there is no reason to believe it isn't correct for the car.

I went out and grabbed my Laguna hook and it is NOT the same as shown on that listing...or, the one you referenced.  Here's a pic of mine:

El camino part ID 75lagu12

The Laguna has a horizontal slot at each front corner that this fits into.  I guess it's designed and provided to protect the urethane.  Normal vertical slot in rear bumper where you use the jack in a normal manner.

I can see how the.laguna hook would work and not damage the rubber. Thanks mcarlo77.
Now the horizontal slot that 77camino posted, would that take the hook shown in the ebay links?

This is just to clarify guys. Im not familiar with this specific jack for the caminos. I just have one of tbese hook things and Ill be looking to sell itthanks guys.

Now one other question. Would it be correct to say that the "J" bolt, used to hold everything down, is longer to accommodate that extra piece?

The J bolt I have with that hook piece measures 10 1/4" long. Seems too long for a chevelle/malibu.

Anyone have their chevelle/malibu J hook handy that can measure the length?

Thanks guys.

Your welcome. Glad I could help. I tucked the El Camino and the Monte in for a long winters nap. Winter has not even started and I'm ready for spring!
