I think its time to let my 76 go
I've had it for 2 years now, and just can't get the time or energy to undertake the project. I've tinkered with it here and there, but the body work I cannot do myself. The thought of having someone help me at my house is not really an option for the mess that it will make in my attached garage. I was full of good intentions to save this car, but I think its time for it to move on. The block for the 383 project is sitting on the stand, because I just can't bear to spend the money on the engine knowing the body isn't done.

The car is in Lancaster Pa. As far as a price, I haven't thought about yet. The trouble right now is letting my mother in-law know the car they bought new in 76 will finally be leaving.

Ray - I'm sure if you find a good home for it where it will get the attention it needs she'll be fine with it. You will probably stress more over your mother-in-laws feelings than she will over the car.

She has said in the past if it is too much to do I understand if you sell it. But that was when it wasn't going. I saved it when her son was going to sell it when he moved a few years ago. I replaced the core support, fan, battery tray, front body mounts, battery, fuel pump, rear shocks and got it running. I bought a door for it to replace the drive side door and a dual hump crossmember that are sitting in my garage and its been like that since. A guy at work says he MAY want it but he's been sick and I think his priorities have changed. So we'll see where it goes. I'd hate to scrap it and its got a lot of good usable parts, but I'm not into parting it out and dealing with the mess.

It left last night. Sold him the car, the door and the crossmember. He was real happy with how it drove, and it looked almost like the one he had as a kid.

I hope his mother in law is proud. It's a great car. The car needs a little TLC but I have been driving the car every day since I got it. I have a 80 mile round trip for work and the car has been getting 18 MPG. The plan is to collect some parts over the winter and make some changes in the spring.
