junkyard replacements for 73 chevelle rotors?
Hey guys, what options do I have when picking through the local junkyards for the front brake rotors on a 73 chevelle malibu? They are the small bolt pattern (4 3/4") and came from the factory with 14" wheels and power brakes.Thank you.

The GM front rotor A-body stuff from '73 thru '77 should all be the same.........
I just noticed that Advance Auto has those, new, for $36.95.......

I would guess camaro / firebird rotors & maybe '77 / '79 caprice would be the same. Thus is only a guess.

As Bill mentioned, new ones aren't all that expensive. Especially when you consider used ones will need to be turned...in addition to the cost at the yard. However, if you do decide you're going with used ones, here is the Hollander Interchange list of compatible rotors (aside from the other '73-'77 "A" bodies):
Camaro '70-'78
Chevy Truck '71 Series 10 van & bus
Chevy Truck '72-'74 Series 10 van & bus
Firebird '70-'78
GMC '72-'74 Series 1500 van & bus
Chevy Passenger w/11" rotor '77/'78
Nova '75-'78
Olds Delta 88 w/11" rotors '77/'78
Omega '75-'78
Phoenix '77/'78
Pontiac '77/'78 w/11" rotors
Seville '76
Apollo '75
Skylark '75-'78
Ventura '75-'77
Be advised that calipers on '77 & up do not interchange with earlier years according to Hollander.

Thank you pila, that's a very good price and I'll be sure to hit them up on it.It's been around 25 years or more since my last rotor purchase which,at that time cost me 53.99+ each if I remember correctly.I'm stoked that something actually got cheaper for the 73's.

Re: junkyard replacements for 73 chevelle rotors?
When I did the front end on my '75 Elco project, I used the original '77 rotors from the Elco I had to scrap, with 180,000 + miles on them. The rotors actually had enough metal yet, to get them turned. Unusual these days, with the thin replacement stuff...

That would be the only argument for finding some factory used ones in a junk yard IMO. They are of a much higher grade of iron. Today's rotors are throw-aways.

Aaah...that explains the reduced cost these days.I don't like the "Bic disposable lighter" direction our automotive industry is going with American manufacturing.Come to think of it I abhore it. (Yup,I'm unwilling to conform to todays norm.)
