Thinking of picking up a 2005 scion xb. Automatic. Thoughts? Here is an image of a similar one. It is black with the same wheels.

Basically a Toyota...... ie good vehicle. My mother in law bought one new, and hasn't had a problem with it. (2010 model)

Not a fan. Those and that KIA Soul are too boxy for me.
They remind me of the electric car that was slapped together on "Top Gear" UK

Yes, but the Kia and Scion won't actually kill you, unlike Geoff. RIP Stig.

Agreed. Don't know how they'll replace him -- he was the perfect complement to Hammond and Captain Slow.

All he did was slap some d/b producer for not getting his food order right...what has this world come to!

I can't remember where I read this (edmunds?) but I don't think they are very safe. I'm sure that true of most of the smaller cars & CUV's though.

I always hated those commercials. Proof that the marketing department has a two drink minimum.

lol. Well I had hoped for a more positive review, but I guess I have always been able to count on you guys to be honest. I am praying about a new daily so that I can park the chevelle a bit to do some more work on it. We shall see what the Lord has in store.

Re: possible new daily
I had a good mileage daily for a while. 92 geo storm. so ive got this problem where i like to go fast. Well it went from a good daily to triple the horsepower and half the mileage and about a 10th as reliable when I turbod it.
I traded that off for a motorcycle and some cash and bought an s10 truck to drive everyday and then the damn problem hit again... Now I drive a V8 s10 as a daily, which is great but 13mpg kinda sucks.
I hated the ugly box on wheels when they came out. Ive driven a few they are kinda weird feeling to drive to me. But I grew to like them more as they do seem to be roomy and its a toyota so its a decent car. Get it if you like it, it doesnt matter what everyone else thinks. Make sure you drive one before tho and decide its what you want.

Re: possible new daily
It may be boxy, but appears to have room in it. More of a utility vehicle than a fashion statement....

Re: possible new daily
Just a suggestion but what about a Pontiac Grand Prix or other GM car with a 3800 v6? We have a Regal for about 12 years. Motor is great but you have to look out for tranny problems and rust in rocker panels. They get really good mileage and ride nice. Probably could score a really nice one for 5 grand or less.

Re: possible new daily
Don't let people's opinions discourage you. They are made by Toyota, so they are well built and reliable. The real question is would like to drive that? I personally like my beater crown Victoria, but only you can choose for you.

Agreed...DD comes down to practicality, price and what you can live with.

Sub woofer box in the back and that cube will be rock-en. Turn the tunes up and who care what it looks like it sounds good when driving it.

Re: possible new daily
Yeah, in the end a DD is really about what you can get that's reliable. The less time you have to spend on it means more time spent on the real car. You don't care what it looks like or who likes it.

I agree.
I wouldn't drive that Toyota, but if that's what you like ... go for it. Always good to have a beater. So enjoy my 1979 Caprice Classic for the winter & my 1989 Caprice Classic for the summer.
