Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
Thats a nasty crash. I was never a fan of cars without a frame like our g3s.

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
That cant be?? The General Lee with Bo and Luke Duke never even got a scratch Anybody see The last Graveyard Cars episode? They were tearing down the Charger that made the world record jump from the dukes of Hazard movie.
The front end had solid metal bracing where they hooked up some kind of catapult, It was the only way to get the distance.

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
At least the big @$$ cross-member on our cars gives us a fighting chance, not to mention the 100 lb braces on the coupe doors. Thank you John Delorean.

The general Lee always landed nose first, the most unrealistic way  a car could land & still drive away.SSTOOLMAN wrote:That cant be?? I hope the previous owner of that minty '59 Chevy was dead before they crash tested his car. Could you imagine maintaining a car for decades, then sell it late in life, to see it destroyed in a crash test?

Dammit, I did some work for that agency a couple years back. I should call up my contact and complain about what they did to that Bel Air.

I would loose it. I hope I never live to see something like that happen to my Chevelle

At least it was a 4 door though.

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
Someone posted somewhere that I read, that they had taken the engine out of the '59 to make the newer car look better. With no engine to take the impact, it would seriously skew the results. Either way, I'm getting tired of these people and the stunt guys and directors in movies destroying classic cars.

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
The 59 has that x frame . Probably not the best in that kind of crash. Try it in a 76 Impala and see what happens. I bet the results would be different.

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
Plus a '59 would not have seat belts, you were going to die in a head on collision....

Re: Sure it's fast ... BUT
It's a heck of a thing to see a rear diff flying through the air like that.
