Can you give me detail's on where you cut off your old 1/4's to be able to use the 3M adhesive ? To attach them wanna get this done this winter and have it ready for paint this spring. This is what I am working with.

I'll be able to see your pic in a bit after I get home. But I used the entire new quarter without cutting any off the new ones. My car used to have a vinyl roof and I took it off and found some pretty bad rust around where the trim would go for the vinyl so I had to use the whole new panel. If that part on your car is ok I would try to cut your old quarters right below the body line about an inch or so down. If you cut it above the body line like I did it is a paaaaaaaaaain to get that contoured part to look smooth unless you're a good body man. (I'm not so good. lol) I can put pics up of where I did mine in a bit. Also with using the 3M, you have to make sure the panel fits pretty much perfectly on it's own without having to force it when you rivet it down. In my case it took DOZENS of on and off trials to try to get it to sit on there on all the angles just right. That way when it cures and you drill the rivets out there's no pressure anywhere from it not fitting right, if that makes sense...Also I'm sure you read the instructions but I think it has to dry somewhere warm. And extra heat will help it cure faster. I did mine outside in summer and then spend a couple hours with a heat gun going back and fourth where it was glued. Next morning was dry as a bone. Anyways I can put pics of my process up later. I also have some pics on my car's thread,"nascar inspired s-3 project" if you wanna look at them.

Calling OldSchool454 Dsc02410 I can't see if yours goes over the top of the body line like mine does here or not, but your original looks good above the body line. If it were me, I would cut it an inch below the body line, and cut the new one to match up. That way you don't have to mess with any of those contours above that body line.

These are true Gm 1/4's not the repro stuff and you see it hugs the lines perfectly that's why the question came into play about the 3M adhesive.

Calling OldSchool454 Dsc02817 I even had to make an aluminum patch panel it was rusted through so bad. That's another good thing about that 3M stuff is you can use it for metal to metal or metal to alum. And it seals and protects against corrosion and rust.

Looks good from the pic. If you don't have any gaps bigger than 1/8 in I don't see why it wouldn't work great.

Mine turned out fine and haven't had any problems with it not holding anywhere. I did both mine 2-3 years ago.

No problem, hope it helps. Looking forward to seeing how yours turn out. You also have to make sure everywhere you glue it is cleeean metal to metal. If you just follow the prep instructions carefully you'll be fine. I think it says to use soap and water. I did mine several times then wiped it with prep solvent until my rag was perfectly clean after wiping it.

you can see it has the scale from sitting for so many years from previous owner whats the suggestion to get rid of that without making unessacary grinding marks ?

I've never had to remove that kind of rust before, but I can imagine what Joe said would work. That stuff is like acid on everything. lol! I'm sure there's probably even some youtube video out there of someone doing it if you looked.
