4 Row Radiator
Will a 70-72 Chevelle 4 row radiator bolt in to my 73 SS wit no modifications? I got a chance at a nice one for cheap.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
Only way to know for sure is if you could measure the one from the 70-72. I'm sure you can "make" it fit.... But without modifying something? Who knows. Depends on if the rad from the G2 was for a big block or small block application. The rad will fit in your rad support, you may have to relocate the lower and upper rubber isolaters, depending on width.
By the way, a two core aluminum rad will outcool a 3 or 4 core copper rad anyday, all day long.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
Its only $30 so i can't go wrong unless its to tall, alum work great, no doubt, for now I want to stay with the stock look.
I am headed to Meltdown Drags vintage drag meet this Saturday at Byron Dragway in upper IL
Hope to see some G3's but they are far and few between in these parts.

30 bucks can't go wrong, unless it's an oooold one and partially blocked , run the garden hose thru it to flush it out before you install it. I can't say for sure if they're too tall or not. Mine is a 3 core copper and it's 18 3/4" tall from the top of the tank to the bottom of the tank 34" overall and 29"wide where the tank rests on the lower saddles

I have a 4 row rad from a 500 ci. caddy. Bolts right in with no mods. Been in there since '85. I will be going aluminum with the new build.

I could try but the SE is still in op right now ..... still having issues with trying to get motor to rotate, I hope its not frozen up from not being driven .

Ant, grab some "PB Blaster" at walmart. Its by the fuel injection cleaners and such. Take out all the plugs and shoot some PB in each cylinder. Do it a couple times a day for about 3 days. Then drop your flywheel cover and borrow a free flywheel turning tool. And give it a shot .
Good luck with it.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
I agree w/ Joe but before you do that try just taking out the plugs to rotate via the harmonic balancer bolt with a 1/2" drive (at least) breaker bar & socket, if you already haven't tried that. You need something kind of long to help turn that crank, like 18" or 24"- They're cheap & pretty good quality @ harbor freight. Loosen up your alternator too to release belt tensions & you might have to remove your fan for easy access & rotation. Usually they won't freeze up from just sitting around unless it's been a really, really long time.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
Maybe you have a starter problem ? Did any water get into the intake while it sat around ?
I have a 3-row aluminum type in my Elco. Haven't finished the painting the body etc , but while running it for cam break-in etc, it runs 175 degrees while cooling the 507 inch Caddy engine. I had it running today, since it hasn't been run since last winter.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
Your 3 row fit with the stock shroud? Would you know what brand and maybe model of rad you have?

Re: 4 Row Radiator
It's a Champion that I bought off of Ebay. A few different places were selling those. Just barely fits in the core support, so it's as big as can be mounted there...

Re: 4 Row Radiator
And the stock shroud fits with it? Is the rad universal or for our G bodies?
Thanks again.

Yes, I love that 71 camaro as well. I love Docs monte but he has to do something to get the power to the pavement.

Re: 4 Row Radiator
I believe it was made to fit '73 thru '77 A bodies....
I wanted an aluminum type to reduce weight on the front end, since the Caddy is about 110 lbs heavier than a SBC engine....
