Re: polishing trim
Advance carries a product called White Diamond polish, it's spendy but it's the best I've used. Used it on the rear window trim of my 77' before I installed it and it's mirror-like now.

Re: polishing trim
Crappy how? Dented, bent, or just dirty build up? Stainless is pretty tough despite how flimsy it is. As long as it's not been broken in half it can be fixed.

Re: polishing trim
didn't know it was stainless ,thought it was aluminum , how do you remove scratches, can you use really fine sandpaper and then polish it

Re: polishing trim
Yeah. Start with 320 and work your way up to 1500 working long ways along the trim and not across. This will produce a satin like finish but it will look amazing nonetheless. To get a mirror finish you will need some buffing wheels and compound. All depends on how dedicated you are to getting it how you want.

Re: polishing trim
No problem, man. Clean your trim with some lacquer thinner or something similar also. That will allow you to see what you are doing better and your sand paper won't gunk up.

Re: polishing trim
I was told white diamond rouge is what to use for stainless. You can get a kit of buffer pads for your bench grinder, and the compound, and go to town on it! Its time consuming, and you have to be careful with the small parts so you dont catch it and bend it up. I want to do this so bad to some of my parts.
