Tire opnions
well finally ordered me some wheels last night,The front 15x7 wheels have a 4" backspace which is a 0mm offset. The rear 15x8 wheels also have a 4" backspace which is a -12mm offset. im wanting a good bit of meat to fill the wells but not so much that it makes the car look like its on big balloons lol, here is a pic of some 15s with the look im after i just dont know the size of them, I have a tire size in mind but just wanted more opinions as this is my first time. thanks.

Re: Tire opnions
That's a great stance, looks pretty stock & the tire/rim combo looks great. I'm also looking for some insight & considering something like this (w/o the slicks & with a bit less height) but have no idea how to fill those wells up as much as in the pic. I guess I'll ask the question too & hopefully someone can come close w/ an answer. Hope you don't mind sharing your question, LOL.

Re: Tire opnions
In the same boat with both of you and looking for similar info.
I was looking at Old School 17’s, but may be leaning toward 18’s after seeing another with those on it.
Wheels by MB Wheels “Old School”: $149.00each
Diameter: 18.0”
Width: 9.0”
Bolt Pattern: 5-114.3mm
Offset: 35
For the tires I found Riken Tires at just over a hundred bucks and have a nice agressive look.

Re: Tire opnions
a 235-70-15 is the same height as a 275-60-15.
i think a 225-70 would look nice.
i personally dont like 7" on the front. but on my caprice i have 1968 corvette 15x7s (235-70),they have an outward offset that looks good with a 15x8s (275-60) on the rear. not sure what the offset is tho.
dont have any other pics with me

Re: Tire opnions
I think that blue Chevelle has a 225 70 in the front and a 275 60 in the back . THe front kinda looks like when I had em on my 77. I run a 255 60 in front and 275 60 in the rear on 8 inch rallys. What is the stock 8 inch rally off set? Is it 4 inches? Im thinking about these wheels for it now.

Re: Tire opnions
My '74 Malibu has 255/60/15 on the rear, on stock rally wheels. I was using smaller tires a few years ago, and sometimes they would light up too easy, and the local cops were giving me the eye. I have 225/60/15 on the front.
My spare is the same as the rear tires, figuring one of those would wear out sooner than the front.

Re: Tire opnions
The fronts on my 75 are too small. 205/65-15. The backs I love. 295/60-15
They fit perfectly just inside the wheel wells with about a fingers breadth clearance. I will probably go a little taller next time I get new tires and bend the inner lip in a little for more clearance.

Re: Tire opnions
I'm not a big fan of 2 sizes for front & back....what if you get a flat on the one that's not the same as the spare? LOL

Re: Tire opnions
That is the FACTORY size on the Grand Am. Personally I think that's way too skinny. 215/70-15 Michelin whitewall. I have 275/60-15 Radial T/A's all the way around on the Laguna and have never had a fitment problem.

Re: Tire opnions
I will say this for the Michelin 215/70-15's though, they are THE smoothest riding tires you will EVER have on a car!...Like a cloud, baby!

Re: Tire opnions

Re: Tire opnions
I think you would like the 225 or 235 better I am gonna go with the 225 myself the 235 is a tall drink of water

Re: Tire opnions
the 235 60 is 26.1 tall. the 215 70 is 26.8 tall. and the 225 70 is 27.4 tall. the reason i was leaning toward the others is im wanting the rake look with out lowering the car, but not so much of a rake that i look like a full dragster lol.

Re: Tire opnions
Being that my El Camino project is gonna be a daily year-around driver, I'm likely going to go with 225/70X15s. Wide tires don't work very good in snow.....
I'll just have to take it easy on the rear tires, and not get foolish & tear them up too quick....

Re: Tire opnions
Paul,I have a 225 70 in my trunk for a spare its about the right height so it won hurt the posi carrier or make it interfere if its a front. Works good. If I go on a roadtrip i take a small floor jack ,Im not using the bumper jack, that thing could kill you.

Thanks Anthony- I'll check it out. Mine are just the reg old 15" BFG's.
The bumper jacks are a joke- I remember trying to change a tire on an incline when I had my Cutlass way back when.
