Heater don't works Empty Heater don't works

Hi

I have a problem. My heater don't work sience i bought my Chevelle.

The Ventilation engine works. But the air is not warm.

I checked the inlet and oulet of the heating hoses. They are both equally warm. But not hot.

What do you think is my problem? Thermostat or heater valve?

Welcome to the site. I am having a similar issue myself with no heat. Unfortunately my fan doesn't work as well. Good thing summer is comming!

Was it sitting for awhile? My 73 had a huge mouse nest in it.

X2, plus I had a nest in the cowl where the wiper mechanisms are.

The H-Valve & Thermostat are inexpensive & they're worth replacing anyway every once in a while. Check your antifreeze level & check it's potency- you may want to flush the system if it's old.

Here in the Northland, whenever a car isn't putting out heat (and, the blower is working), the first item of suspect is the thermostat. That's assuming the coolant level is where it should be. As I understand it, the Heat/Water Valve should always be open unless you switch the Temp Control to A/C...which then closes it to prevent coolant from flowing to your heater core. As Mali states, both are easy and inexpensive to replace...and a good time to backflush the coolant through your heater core. Actually, it's very easy to test the Heat Valve by simply pulling a vacuum through the hose and determining that the insides move freely.

Could be the cable for the heater door is not hooked up. How does the lever move? If with no resistance maybe its broken.

On my car the cable was not attached to the heater door. Once I fixed that (and lubed and streightened the cable), presto, heat. Well, reasonable heat, not toasty.
