Re: New Guy in CT - 73 Century Gran Sport Stage1 4spd
I do, but generally when I go I race the 65 and dont show it. Sometimes I pit at the edge of the show field, so look for me..I'll have the 65 Gran Sport again this spring, it's red with a white top - looks like this:
BTW - The Sun Coupe was a two year option only: in 72 it was a sliding fabric roofed Skylark hard top, and in 73 it was a power sunroofed Century coupe - I dont recall any Appollo's built, but I could be wrong..I could be wrong about only two years too

I have seen both Apollo and Skylark Sun Coupes here in Phoenix, so i know they exist. How many I don't know. I love the 65 though, sweet!

I will look for it, maybe you know my friend Dom,hes got a silver 70 GS with a black top,he races too, it leaves wheels up all the time. Usually goes about 10.15 -20 around there.

Yeah the Apollo I saw on E-bay once has the folding top. Pretty cool. The Skylarks are nice too.

Thanks Pontichev, it's a cool car too and runs great..although you'll notice in that picture the light is green and i'm sitting there making smoke! It hooks better now!
Ant7377, I kinda know those guys and kinda dont - I'm not a real club guy, I generally do my own thing.. but I've seen your buddy run and his car is beautiful (and obviously fast!)
And as I was going though my pictures, I came across a couple of guys from that same club who have cars that might interest you all!https://i.servimg.com/u/f71/18/12/62/00/img_0010.jpg[/img]

That's a way cool pic!.. I have been to the Buick Nationals in Bowling Green, Ky a few times, and those boys can fly when their tune is right!

The dial on the dark car is in the 11's, the white car in the12's . I remember they surprised me ..those cars arent light and they didnt look like much! A well set up Buick 455 can pull some weight though.
Hell, even the 65 runs well on what amounts to a box stock 401 Electra motor. No cam or tri-power or fancy anything, it just loves having 1000 less lbs to launch.....

2 big milestones this season:
Finally got the 73 Stage 1 to the track - short story is it ran a best of 14.29 @ 95.3. Thats without any tuning or anything, just drove up to the track and ran (and drove it home!). Still needs much work, I think the cam needs to be re-degreed because the car needs a very strange timing curve to even idle or run....
And I got the A/C going! Replaced the compressor clutch bearing and 3 lbs of R-12 later.....35 degree A/C. I love GM!
Car has been down for the last couple weeks becuase the distributor I built is chewing itself up, but other than that, and pretty good season so far.
