Wiper refills
Where can I find the 16" blades for my '76? My local parts place has a set that are supposed to be correct but they look different, they have a different clip and a little bit different look but similar.

Try your Chevy dealer. I believe they are still in production.

The dealership said they were discontinued. Yes I have the steel wipers. On my photobucket page I posted a pic on there.

Re: Wiper refills
I think these will work- if you want to reuse the stainless wiper arms. Man these were really a pain in the @$$ to find. I need them too- might buy a life time supply.

Re: Wiper refills
What am I missing?
These are OEM wiper arms and you want to reuse the OEM wiper and change the blade only?
I must have dumb luck because they came from local Autozone, Napa, or Walmart, don't remember which, for both my '78 Blazer and '74 Chevelle.
One has Trico, and other has Anco.

Re: Wiper refills
My wipers are all stainless steel (arms & wipers). The blade pops out & what I posted are the refills-at least I think they are according to JCW.

Re: Wiper refills
And you can't find these at a local parts store?

No- "too many returns" according to my local Autozone & Advanced does not have them either-same story. Apparently the local populous is too stupid to order the correct rubber blades. I was kind of surprised, I remember buying them for the Cutlass and I just replaced the ones on my minivan- the replacement wiper arms stink compared to the ones that cam from Dodge. Maybe I'll give NAPA a try.
The worst part is instead of spending $8.00 you're spending $25 for a decent pair.

Re: Wiper refills
Now I am curious.
I changed the wiper blades this summer on my Blazer (trico)and they came from one of the big three; Walmart, Autozone, or Napa. And if it was Napa, it would have stood out in my mind because evertime I buy something in there it's painful like anal bleeding.

Re: Wiper refills
Blahaha. I know how you feel, NAPA's prices are outrageous I only go there as a last resort. I bought wiper refills from NAPA a year ago for my '64 Merc, they were the only ones that had them. Unforunately Advanced/AutoZone are kind of clueless when it comes to vintage cars, I find things I usually can't get elsewhere at NAPA.

Re: Wiper refills
Had nothing better to do this evening than dream of warmer days ahead, so thought I'd see where I could buy these Trico 43-160 refills. Had already checked all the local auto parts stores (NAPA included) and nobody stocks them. Found a site (www.theautopartsshop.com) that had them for $9.84 ea. with free shipping. I ordered two (probably should have ordered more) and somehow got an additional $2.00 discount...for a net total of $17.68 shipped to my door! Not too bad!
By the way, I clicked on that link to JC Whitney for these refills and thought their pricing was a little deceiving. At least to me, it reads as though the $12.82 is for a set of 2. When you go to Checkout, you find that it's for 1 refill.

That is deceptive. Good sleuthing. Can you post a pic when you get them in?

Re: Wiper refills
Will do. My thinking was to get a pair in and make sure they are what I think they are.

Re: Wiper refills
Thank you! I'm almost positive they are just the "old style rubber blades" from TriCo; slide the old ones out & slide the new ones in, if I'm remembering correctly. Been a while since I had the Cutlass.

Re: Wiper refills
Yeah...that's what I'm expecting, anyway. Just like we used to have to do back in the day. I just wanted the Laguna to look period correct with the original stainless wiper arms...not that I'll probably ever use the wipers. You know...planning on it being a fair weather driver and all.

Re: Wiper Refills
Got the Trico refills in and they are what I remembered. Note when ordering (I had forgotten this)...each package contains a pair of blades. Installing them brought back memories how putsy they can be compared to the easy install of wiper arms nowdays. Still, I like the original look of them on these cars.
And, installed on the arms waiting to be put into service on Project Laguna!

Re: Wiper refills
They look good! Were all Laguna wiper arms painted or is that my bad eye's again?
My 77 Chevelle has bright stainless arms, no paint.

Still haven't found your glasses, huh! Kidding!! No...these are the same bare stainless/metal ones found on all these A bodies.

Re: Wiper refills
, maybe I need a stronger prescription!
Can U use a flash next time?
LOL
BTW- did you have to use the special tool or did you improvise to remove the wiper arms?

Re: Wiper refills
I didn't know there was a special tool!
I just use a small tack puller to release the little tab while prying up on it. I could see where a special tool would make this a little easier.
