74 chevelle swap front?
Hey guys, I recently got my first chevelle. She's a 74 chevelle with 35k miles, I picked her up for a startling 1500. She was in a barn for the past 25 years, no rust and the car was undercoated. I consider it a lucky find and I really pride myself with the 350 under the hood. The only thing I can't seem to get past is that front end..the grill specifically. Any chance of me sticking a 69 el camino one, or even a laguna 73 one on? What exactly is compatible?
Thank you in advance -Tom

Laguna noses will fit as will any 73/77 chevelle parts you desire. 69 elcamino not so much. Front end is 100 percent different. Welcome to the forum and merry christmas.

73 bumpers, fillers & grilles are different than the other years, you can do this swap but you'll need 100% of the parts & brackets to make it work from a 73 Malibu/Chevelle.

Re: 74 chevelle swap front?
I have a Laguna nose in pretty decent shape with headlight rings and whatever mounts needed. Would cost more to ship than it is worth though. If I was going to do a Laguna nose I'd go fiberglass. Has anyone here weighed a 75-77 nose? Also, Welcome to the forum.

I've got a 73 and 74 lagune nose if needed. Where are you located? P.S. to anyone on the site, My opinion only but you should all put where you are from on your profile. Just makes things easier when stuff like this comes up.

Re: 74 chevelle swap front?
are you saying a laguna nose is 100lbs heavier than a stock nose, with a regular bumper? in my case, a stock 73 nose?

I know my 76 Guna nose was 185 pounds. I have almost all the parts to swap to a stock 73 Malibu if you like that look.

Re: 74 chevelle swap front?
My 73 Laguna nose is 150. I haven't weighed my 74 Laguna nose, but its got more structure behind the bumper making it a lot heavier. I assume it has to do with the new regulations in 1974.

Re: 74 chevelle swap front?
sorry wow, didn't realize my thread was still getting replies. well guys i'm located near pittsburgh pa. A laguna nose would look pretty good fi you ask me. I saw a picture on here somewhere where someone modified an older nose onto a newer el camino (mid 70s). So I figured it was possible if done right. Well i'm definitely searching guys, also looking for better gears right now, running 3.08 and its holding it back ALOT. I'll do picks after I finish my bumper tuck and paint it.
