best carpet? Empty best carpet?

Post by RossK73 Sat Dec 08, 2012 11:42 am

Hello - I stripped my carpet out before I put my car in storage and was wondering if there is a difference in the carpet suppliers out there? I have heard some have quality and fitment issues. Anyone happy or disappointed with their new rugs? santa
Thanx, Ross

I bought my last carpet from National Parts Depot (NPD) for my '74 Malibu. The one I'm gonna buy for my '75 Elco project will be from the same place. They have a "concours" carpet too, which is about 30 bucks more, and more plush etc, and more padding on the bottom of it I believe.

I think I need the 80/20 loop which would be correct for a 73. ......not sure about 74-77?

Not sure what the original was in a '73. I had a '73 Elco, but don't remember the carpet type. I personally like the cut pile better anyway.

I have the original in the basement - not in bad shape but faded and thin in areas. its a loop carpet and 2 piece. Thanx for the feedback _ just don't want to do this twice.
cheers

I'm using Stock Interiors for mine when ready. Here's the page for 73 Chevelle. They have other good stuff for our cars too.

I agree w/ Pila on the cut pile carpets. They're nice.

Thanx 77mali - I checked out NPD and the shipping to me was more than the price of the carpet, so I may not go that direction. Stock Interiors was ONLY $90 for s/h! you say that you are using them....are you happy with yours?
thx

Where are you located ?? Shipping costs are what adds so much to our project costs alright. Shopping around is worth the time to do it.

I'm in NB, Canada. I may have to take a trip to Calais, ME to pick it up.....or wait till I go down to NY in January. Gives me time to shop around.

I have not bought it yet but I think their carpets are more factory correct than most in terms of the contours of the pans. I have a buddy who used them for his 72 Camaro & that's how I was introduced to their website. He is very happy and said there was very little trimming needed for the install on his car.
