HID headlights Empty HID headlights

Converted headlights to HID 80k. Both blew out seperatly. Can't be fuse there is only one for both. Only thing I can think of is it has something to do with the fact that I have a single wire alternater. Anybody else have comments or thoughts? They both went in less than two weeks and were only on for maybe four hours if that.

I have several friends with 60's era cars with working regulators that had the same issue. They were told that HIDs require extremely regulated juice and most of the newer cars have computer regulated systems just for the HIDs.

You definitely need a balast to run the power correctly. I put HID kits in my 04 Cobra head lights and fog lights. All have ballasts. I would really like some HID's in my 76 Monte though! Where can you get them?

Here is the set I purchased. Is the silver box not the balast for the lights?

Yeah those are the ballasts. When you say they blew out, what exactly do you mean? The bulb blew out?

bulbs burning out could be as simple as contaninates on them but if it was balasts then either go bad balasts or just cheaply made. unless im mistaken i didnt see relays to protect the balasts

The relays are there also just not in the picture. The guy that sold them to me is going to replace the bulbs(he offered I didn't ask but he said I needed a code interrupter) He stated even though I don't have a computer on the car this would fix the issue if it is the single wire alternator. Cheap enough may give it a try. Better than driving in the dark.
