Front wheel bearings
I took my front brakes apart, and want to replace the bearings.
Rock auto lists
SKF Part # BR2
SKF Part # BR6
I want to save some shipping costs through amazon.
Amazon claims the numbers don't fit a 74 Elky.
I trust Rock auto,I just hate paying double shipping from multiple locations.
Any comments or correct part numbers appreciated.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Go to autozone and come back home with a sack of parts. They have Timken bearings.

Re: Front wheel bearings
I can order Timken online for $5...Auto Zone wants $13.99
Nobody lists the actual part numbers...makes me angry.
Pretty much throwing away $40.
I know a distributor that will match them up for me,but its a ride.

Re: Front wheel bearings
What happens when you order the wrong $5 bearing on-line?
I can't see ordering a consumable on-line and then wait for them to arrive. Some stuff you need buy locally. You take the old parts with you to autozone to compare, and then come home with the correct part.
Time is worth something.

Re: Front wheel bearings
How ever you get them, don't accept anything but Timken. Had a couple bad bearings that were the cheap stuff from Autozone. They replaced them with Timken, but it's the labor you have to eat.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Everyone lists SET2 and SET6 as the part numbers.
Once I jostled everything, and added about 10 different brake shoes to my shopping cart then subtracted them again,I got the bearings and other parts from one shipping point...shesh.
Popular item...used in quite a few vehicles.
I order quite a few parts,as I have 4 project vehicles.
Can't really afford to throw money to the wind.
I rarely get a bad part,I just prefer to do all my research online to save fuel and frustration.
