Radiators
I think im gonna need a Radiator in my 77 Monte. Im not in a rush so I can do my research. What are you guys using ?Im thinking an Aluminum Summit part # 380457 .Ive got this big 4 row in there now but I have not found another.I bought it off a guy where else could this have come from ? (Pick up maybe) Id like to get another. Maybe I will try to get this one reapaired, they arent cheap at all anymore.

Re: Radiators
I bought a 4 row copper radiator about 4 years ago and have had no heating problems at all. I am running about 550 HP. I bought mine thru my local speed shop. Summit or Jegs can probably get you one. They are a lot cheaper than aluminum, at least they used to be. JB

Re: Radiators
I think mine is a 3 core copper not sure it's original to the car. Pic is before cleaning up but I might also be upgrading too. I've seen aftermarket "stock" replacements out there on a few sites. If you're interested I can dig through my notes.

Re: Radiators
My '77 has the original V01 option HD Radiator. Not sure if this meant it was a 4-core. Never really paid attention to it...even though years ago I took it out to have it repaired.

Re: Radiators
I checked on autozone and advanced auto parts webssites and they dont seem to sell radiators for these cars anymore. I might just get mine recored but keep the suggestions coming.

Re: Radiators
My advice...go have it recored. These radiators are well-built and good candidates for recoring...unlike the lightweight crap they put in cars nowdays.

Re: Radiators
I heard a rumor (online) that Autozone not only has them, but in their catalog they mispriced them at $130 when the actual price was $300. I do not know if this is true. Its worth checking on. JB

Re: Radiators
I found both a copper (pt#CU360 @ $109) and aluminum (pt# CU161 @ $113) on the Autozone site for a '77 Monte 350-4bbl. Doesn't say how many cores, but I'm guessing 3 as another company I've bought radiators from lists a part number of CR161 for a 3-core.

Re: Radiators
For my '75 Elco I bought a Champion off of Ebay, a 3-row aluminum, for $229 shipped. I went to aluminum for the weight savings, because of the heavier engine. It's a big radiator, and it just fit in the core support. A friend put a Griffin in his '68 GTO. It was expensive, and didn't appear to be any better than the Champion.
Can't beat a copper radiator for a stock/original look though.

Re: Radiators
only problem with the aluminum radiators they use in the newer cars is the plastic tanks, I see alot of blown up motors from leaky plastic radiator tanks or plastic coolant lines
By the way im I know the 72 chevelle radiator will fit the 73 perfect. im pretty sure 69-72 radiators will fit most 73-77s as long as the radiator has the heater hose fitting on it which the 72s had. but I would measure your rad first.
