Thats a sharp looking car. Post some more photos of it when you have time. BTW, I havent read your magazine article, but do you have a big block in yours too?

Re: newbie
it has a 540ci merlin block motor in it. it put out 755hp @ 6000 rpm without the squeeze fun as hell to drive!

Re: newbie
I have a 540 Dart Big M in my 74 Elky, but built it struictly for a fun street machine with low horsepower for ease of driving. Just guessing, probably around 550 or 575 HP. My engine builder tried to talk me into making it 572 c.u., but I knew it would have plenty of torque for my purposes so I told him 540 for quicker reving and I was RIGHT. Bout time I made a right decision! It has Edelbrock RPM heads and air intake and Comp roller cam with MSD ignition and Comp headers. I was stupid for spending that much money, but ya gotta splurge once in a while, right? Re: newbie
go big or go home.... right? i had a 496 in it for a while but i needed to be over 500ci (everyone else was.... why not). i have not run it at the track yet. not in a real big hurry, i raced the car for years prior to this last build. im going to be seriously traction limited to get a real fast et. i built it to drive it and it is stupid fast on the street. still havent hit the nitrous yet should be fun when i do

Re: newbie
Comon now...give it just a "little" squeeze! I would love to hear what your car sounds like. I've got the big block in mine, rectangle port aluminum heads all port matched going out 3" stainless pipes through Borlas. Sounds awesome. Im gonna post some avi files on here of my car as soon as it comes back out of hibernation for the season. You should post some video footage of yours too!

Re: newbie
You've probably heard this plenty so far, but nice car man!
Seriously, it was this car and another '73 that appeared in CarCraft that made me really want a 3rd gen Chevelle. It was this burgundy beast like mine, only it has a 502 and it was in the magazine a few years ago. No one builds them up, yet they have too much potential to be ignored!! My dad had two of them in his life, and he promised me his last one, but he had to sell it, unfortunately...
Damn, I get off topic too much. Welcome to the site!

Hey tony the body shop is going to be done with her this spring. I just plunked out 6 grand to have the body painted and put back together. From the frame up.
