Article on Jalopnik
So Jalopnik had an article about the Dallas Police Department squad cars, I had remember seeing a picture of a 76 or 77 Malibu kitted up a while back.

See if you recognize a few of them!

Re: Article on Jalopnik
I remember that plain white wrapper growing up. When they went to the blue stripe, that was a big deal!
It's funny if you read the facebook comments on the Matador the PD universally hated it. They liked the 73-77 A-bodies and the later B-bodies.
I don't remember too many of the Chrysler products other than the Diplomats. One cop I talked to who had been on the force long enough to have driven them, said they were slow, but could outhandle the Crown Vic and the Caprice. the Caprice was hands down their favorite though.

Not that I've ever been in the back of one but I remember these Mopars back in the early 80's...The short lived and obscure St. Regis
Here's the civilian version...

I think Chrysler was jealous of all the GM divisions kicking their butt back then & decided to "borrow" some styling cues. Very Laguna-ish 1979 Magnum pictured. I also remember the Corinthian Leather appointed Cordoba, as advertised by smooth talking Ricardo Montelban...LOL!

Re: Article on Jalopnik
Michigan and some locals had Dodge Diplomats. Transmissions seem to be the weak point in those cars. Later, local sheriff dept used Caprices until they were no longer built, and even bought some extras in the last year. The hate the found on road deads .
