Noob Alert Empty Noob Alert

Post by Biomedtech Sat Dec 18, 2010 7:57 pm

Hi folks, glad to find a group dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of this series of Motown muscle!

Here's a rendering of my project in progress....

Noob Alert Laguna11

Found 2 of these on Craigslist in the Detroit area for $1300 for the pair. 1 from Michigan, with the standard rustbelt cancer, and the other from Cali. The original plan was to use parts from the Michigan chassis as a donor to do up the Cali chassis, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So both of them are now in the process of being restored. One by my bodyman/brother and the other by myself.

This of course in the long run is going to be alot more expensive but in the interest of conserving 2 of the originally 9500 or so 1976 Lagunas it will be well worth it!

Soooo, anyone have a line on a Can-Am Lemans rear spoiler? Laughing

Nice vision for the project and welcome to the site.

Since you are doing two now, are they going to be twins or negative copies of each other?

Welcome to the site!
That's a cool project idea that you have! Unfortunately, by now I'd imagine you know how hard it is to find Can Ams in good shape, let alone parts for them. The spoiler might have to be a custom job.
Do you have any in-progress pics?

Hey...welcome to the site from another new owner of a '76 Laguna project! I'll be very interested to see how yours proceeds. The car I picked up a few months ago was also a local rust-belt victim. By most anyone's standards, this car should have been taken behind the barn and shot! My initial intentions were to part it out as it has a nice burgundy swivel bucket interior. But then, my son-in-law expressed interest in bringing this car back from the brink and so, we have been busy cutting floor and trunk pans from a donor. Just picked up two rust-free fenders and the car came with a pair of new qtr panels. Looks like "game on" for a restoration beginning this Spring!

Welcome to the site & good idea on the Goon. I've always liked that rendering. Here's some more for you guys to check out in case you've never seen the thread:

BTW, you can make that spoiler out of a 2nd gen Z28 spoiler. It has been done a couple of times, but requires cutting & expanding the center section. A body man shouldn't have any trouble doing it though.

actually Rago, I asked the Doctor about his spoiler build a very long time ago. And it is the corners that are cut out and filled in, not the center section being stretched.

If I can find the pics on PC I will post them

So is the center piece the correct width for our trunks? That would actually make things easier then. Thumbs up

I could have swore that there was someone else that done the spoiler, but maybe I've seen one too many Chevelle SE's?
