Re: Color choices for Limey
Yeah the interior pic, door jamb is closer then the top pic. I'll ask my buddy to see if he can get the paint code for it to color match it.

Re: Color choices for Limey
Sublime green is a thumbs up for sure, but if u see the Camaro green u will love it.
got a several texts from my buddy about the paint as i was typing
Its pricey for a gallon, they just got a gallon of it. he'll get me the code tomorrow when he goes to the shop.
$600 for a gallon for factory quality paint, and $180 to $300 for the cheaper stuff depending in ur area. He says u can tell a big deference from the cheaper paint then expensive paint. The cheaper stuff doesn't have as much metallic and it doesn't glow as much as the factory type. the factory type has that kandy look and the cheaper one looks like a regular base color which is still nice but doesn't have have that kick.
hope this helps

Re: Color choices for Limey
How about getting a plain lime green, but mix some pearl into it? Maybe some gold pearl to make it "pop". For those that are unaware, I DO NOT mean gold flakes! It's not the 1980's anymore. I mean a light gold or even green pearl thrown into the paint to make you do a second glance. I'd go with a Lime Green that has a little more of a yellow hue to really stand out if not.
Also Limey, for PS, you can't get it right trying to do a gray car against a gray background. Good lighting & contrasting background will make a difference in changing car colors. If it was against a different colored background, you just go into image>adjustments & play around with hues or selective colors. Honestly gray is a hard one anyways due to being so close to all of your shadow colors.

Re: Color choices for Limey
Not enough contrast in that pic to look right. I tried.
Here you go. If you want to play around with the colors on this one some more, just choose Image>Adjustments>Hue & select the yellows or greens to switch up the hue & saturation. It should be easy to figure out. And yes I realize that the grille is different.

Good old factory green. I was wondering why you didn't choose that in the first place. I say go with it, but add some pearl to make it stand out more like the one I PS'd

Re: Color choices for Limey
Might as well go with Chrysler Limelight/Sublime green & just knock out the guess work IMHO. If the Duke boys could use GM Hugger Orange, why can't you use a Chrysler color?

Re: Color choices for Limey
I don't see why not use another auto company color, I wanted to paint caddy in a dodge ram blue. Shi!t when that slug bug green that VW brought out like 8 years ago, everyone and there brother had that on all different makes and models, old or new intown.

Re: Color choices for Limey
House Of Color has a very bright pearl called "Lime Green". Powerblock TV had a rebuild of a S10 that was painted a simular color to HOC's called Antifreeze Green. I think it was made by Dupont or PPG, can't remember for sure. JB

silver metallic base coat, antifreeze green top coat. I believe this is a Candy Apple color instead of a pearl. JB

Re: Color choices for Limey
If it is a candy color, and I think it is, the green over the black base coat would not look too good. A gloss black MIGHT not look too bad, but back in the 1960s I was experimenting with candy paints and was new at it and put the candy over a flat black base and it looked like chit. The sparkle in the photo is provided by the silver base coat. When you put pearl over a gloss black base that lets the pearl show up more due to the contrast between the base and the pearl. Same way with the chamileon colors, the color shift is not as noticeable over a light color base because the contrast is not there. My daughter wants me to paint my 74 with the chamileon paint. I told her if she would pay for it that I would do it. Talk about eyes rolling around in someone's head... JB BTW, candy colors are hard to spray right. If you are not real good you will get "tigar stripes"

Re: Color choices for Limey
Limey, kandies has its pros and cons I would suggest going with something else. The painter does need to know how to paint with kandies, if not it will tiger strip. Since ur adding layers (base coat, kandie, then clear) it chips easier, and u can't do touch ups since its a transparent paint. You'll would need to put a pattern over the chip or paint the whole side/whole car again. The cost might be same if not cheaper if u go with the camereo color
The good thing is that u can add patterns, flake, pearls, and whatever else u can think of under the kandiy and it changes the out come of the color.
Me, I going to redo the paint on the car. From an all kandie to a pearl base wih kandy patterns for those reasons.

Re: Color choices for Limey
IMO the best green for a muscle car is the green used on mopars in the early 70s! i agree on going peral and not kandy. a two tone or stripes somewhere would really look good

Re: Color choices for Limey
I still recommend House Of Color Lime Green pearl over a black base. Sure, its expensive, but you get what you pay for. Go to a HOC store and they will spray you a test panel. I forget whither its free or a small charge. JB

Re: Color choices for Limey
Here's another suggestion for color. 2008 Snakeskin Green Pearl Coat:
http://forums.viperclub.org/srt10-srt10-coupe-discussions/602323-2008-snakeskin-green-pearl-coat-oh-yeah.html
I think it gives a good description of what pearl will do to a color, especially the two different pictures with the non-pearl Daytona in the background. Also scroll down to see a couple of pics on an actual Viper.
