Chevelle graveyard
some pics from a recent trip to Bud's Auto Parts in Greenville, MI. Found a door for my old wagon there and a few trim bits as well. The brown '74 wagon provided the door.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
Should I cry for all of the lost cars or jump for joy that there's still a salvage yard with a lot of good parts for cars from the 70's?
I'm willing to bet you will find a manual trans set up, a tach cluster, a posi rear end, & other desirable parts somewhere in those stacks.

I AM JUMPING FOR JOY THAT THEY DID NOT TAKE PROFIT OF CRUSHING CARS BACK WHEN SCRAP WAS SO HIGH OVER SAVING THESE CARS

Re: Chevelle graveyard
I may visit again this year and if I do I'll take some more pictures to share. There maybe have been 6-8 rows of Chevelles/Malibus from the 2nd to 4th generation. I only had about 1.5 hours to spend there so I didn't look around a lot. Next time I'll give myself more time to scrounge.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
That's a great idea...all those cars are languishing and need to be used for a better purpose.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
That place isn't too far from me, maybe 100 miles. I'm a bit east of Saginaw. Looks like they have a grill etc that I could use, and also some '75 headlight housings. I would like the use the single head light set-up, as opposed to the duals.
How are the prices? Some of those old yards think their cars are gold plated.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
Header panel for $300........ Seriously? You are talking about the small flat piece of metal between the grill & hood right?

Re: Chevelle graveyard
My door was $200. Sure, it was probably more than it's "worth" but those things have proven hard to find. Plus, I didn't have to pay shipping from Arizona. For $50 more I bought two aluminum sill plates, a front license plate holder and two black plastic vent covers.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
dont get me wrong they are priced according to what the market does but 300 for that header is over priced

Re: Chevelle graveyard
Sorry Limey. I keep thinking Chevelle header panel. I could honestly see that one being $200-$250 if it includes all of the hardware, grill, bezels, etc.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
One grill is MIA the other is broke the turn signals are included but NOT useable all the rest of the chrome is so badly pitted it is worthless

Re: Chevelle graveyard
If I get a chance, I may cruise over there and hassle them a bit, but I'll have to call over there and see what he wants for the parts I could use. It does depend on how much work it takes to fix the stuff I already have.

Re: Chevelle graveyard
there's only 1 yard that I know of that has G3s intown, some days he's very good on prices and other days he's not. Not to sure about $200 on a door, paid $100 for mine, they took it off for me, and came complete with everything except the hinges IDK maybe they gave me a deal since they had the car stacked kind of dangerous where the car was teeter-tottering with any little breeze.
I wish they're cars were as complete as these
