Re: Assembly manuals?
Corey,I think you are thinking of the shop manual. The Assembly manual
is what factory workers used when the cars were assembled. It just has detailed pics of different components in it and how they go together. No repair procedures. For what is available (usually Camaro's corvettes and earlier Chevelles) they are only around 20 bucks.

Re: Assembly manuals?
I've also been looking for an assembly manual without sucess, but I bought a thing on eBay called "Part Number Service Guide" printed in 1974 by Mitchell Manuals.
At 22 pages, it's by no means complete, but there is a lot of good info there. It covers 73 & 74 Chevelle, Laguna 2dr, 4dr & wagons as well as El Camino.
If anyone wants a copy, I'll share. Even better, if anyone has the software to make it a .pdf file, we could post it here, or at least email it to each other.
More description in the auction listing where I bought it.

Re: Assembly manuals?
Nobody has to buy it. I already bought it. That's why I was saying, if someone has the software, I could make it a .pdf file and and post it.
If nobody has the software, or I can't find it, I'll try to get some copies made this weekend.
If you want a copy, you can send me your mailing address through eBay if (like me) you'd rather not post your personal information here. I guess a "Personal Message" would be as safe, yes? I'm just getting used to the way the board works.

Re: Assembly manuals?
Today I called Millenium Industries Inc. which is the company that reprints the Assembly Manuals that you have probably seen before.
They have nothing for 73-77 Chevelles. I asked about other GM brands or years (not just my '74) and they have nothing for any GM A-Body for 73-77.
Don't stop reading, there may yet be hope.
The guy I talked to said there was only 1 copy of each assembly manual for each plant, and they were "supposed" to destroy them at the end of the production run. Each plant had a full set, so even the Corvette plant, or the Nova factory all had copies of the book we're looking for. There were also several GM Libraries (now there's only one) that all had copies but they were transferred to microfilm, and the microfilm for our cars is no good.
Now, here's the (somewhat) good news. If anybody has, or can find an original, complete assembly manual, Millenium Industries, will pay $200 to borrow it! The owner will get it back, and the rest of us will be able to buy copies for around $20 bucks! This is a standing offer for any assembly manual they currently do not have.
So please, condense this information as you see fit, but post Millenium's $200 offer on all the Chevelle & 3rd Gen GM A-Body web sites you can think of, and maybe something will turn up.

Re: Assembly manuals?
Just be careful dudes... These things copyrighted? Hiring a company to make copies then making money off the dupes...

Re: Assembly manuals?
Sounds like Millenium's got a deal with GM.
Anyway, they're selling them for other cars by the hundreds.
