Jegs exhaust kit?
Anyone ever use the Jegs dual exhaust kit? http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/30552/10002/-1?parentProductId=751868
Im looking at it only cause I just want something cheap to throw on my '73 for now just to get it on the road. And Im wondering how the fit of the pipes are etc.

"May require cutting and welding in some circumstances due to different ride height and suspension setups."
You can bet your @$$ it's going to.... Haven't seen a "bolt-on" setup for these cars that doesn't.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Exactly the reason why I haven't bought a "bolt-on" exhaust set-up for my 76. I don't want to cut & re-bend, etc. I'm just going to a local shop that quoted me $174 from headers to bumper for dual 2 1/2" pipes & I bring my own mufflers. My problem is deciding on tips that look good on these cars. I could go side exit right before the rear wheels for $50 cheaper but I don't want to deal with the constant resonance on a daily driver even if it does look better.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
WOW $174 is cheap, I keep getting quoted around $275+ from headers to rear with no tips or mufflers.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Yeah, I got quotes from $250 and up if I brought my own mufflers, and thats just the regular muffler shop crush bent pipe, the Jegs kit is mandrel bent. Im not too worried about having to modify the Jegs kit alittle if I have to, I have a welder etc so thats no big deal. I plan on adding an x pipe to it anyways.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Dan that sounds about the same as my quote if you figure 3" is gonna cost more than 2 1/2". I'm glad we live in the cheaper part of the country, lol.
Anyone found a tip that looks right on these cars? I got some big A$$ tips just laying around (echo chambers?) but I'd rather find something a little less obnoxious for Brown Eye. The only thing I can imagine is either chrome turn-downs at the rear corners or thin rectangular tips tucked just under the bumper.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Bowtie tips are for flaky people. I don't know how else to put it without being more blunt, but they really are ugly.
The black one looks OK, got a different angle of it? It looks like the seam is pretty visible or is it odd shaped?

ROTFL! Left hand driving, swerving, blowing through a stop sign, & nearly smacking into the oncoming traffic. What a dooshbag.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
I like the actual original chevelle tips
problem is that I cant find any that look like them in 3" inlet. other than the pypes brand.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
How about no on the tips, nerd convention, & flame throwers. Even though the flame throwers look cool you gotta run rich in order for them to work, so no thanks. Wash down in your cylinders doesn't sound too cool to me.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Not if you mount a small injector in the tailpipes hooked up to a completely seperate fuel setup. Saw a guy throw good 15' flames out the back of some old ratrod. Not my cup of tea, but it CAN be done.

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
alot of the rat rodders run propane from there trunk for the seperate fuel source that I have seen anyways, they say it gives the flame a more bluish glow to it

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
YES! kinda late response here BUT i have the exact kit on my 73 chevelle 2 door. Very well fit and clearance. i had Midas install it and i got the headers with it. sounds good bt not loud enough for me. only thing you will have to do is cut the tailpipes to your likings becuase they are made long enough to fit montes and 4 doors but thats it. mine is the 2.5 inch

Re: Jegs exhaust kit?
Just slash cut the pipe at the bumper, it will look plenty nice. No need to get all blingtastic with exhaust pipes.
