LED bulbs!
This might come in use for someone wanting to upgrade their lighting.

I know it's a site for motorcycles, but they do sell 1157 bulbs in a variety of sizes & your choice of red or amber. If you scroll down, there are more choices for non-LED bulbs as well.

Re: LED bulbs!
When I used the 1157 type LED bulbs in my tailights my signals dont work. Anyone else have this ? I was told to use a digital flasher because there is so little resistance in the bulbs.

Re: LED bulbs!
Might take a look at this too, The only bad part about the LEDs is having to change them all at once and switching out the flasher because the LEDs pull a lot less juice. i plan to switch to them as soon as i get the caught up on everything else.
There's a conversion chart on this site that tell you what switches out to what..

Re: LED bulbs!
what if i wanted to just buy a few bulbs here and there for the idiot lights and stuff
would i need to change the flasher before i change the first bulb?

No. You only need to worry about the flasher if you are converting the turn signal bulbs.

Re: LED bulbs!
My front side markers flash in sequence with the front turn signals, so i'd have to change everything except the rear side markers all at once or they would'nt work right.

Re: LED bulbs!
I like the idea that someone had about making sequential rear turn signals. Sounds complicated, but interesting.

Re: LED bulbs!
I read somewhere about a guy trying to convert a mustang sequential kit over to a G3 of some sort. He was going to mock up a panel w/LEDs on polished aluminum and use the wiring somehow...
Seeems like a lot of expense for only two bulbs per side. Might be cool though.

Re: LED bulbs!
I was thinking of making the white part red & turning the backup into a tail/turn. Not that I would actually have the patience to do it, but it would be different. 76 & 77 models just have long enough tails that it seems like they should be sequential.

Re: LED bulbs!
If you were going to do that, you could use the wiring for the late model mustangs, they have a three light sequential set-up. Kits not too expensive.

Re: LED bulbs!
what do you guys mean about the sequential set up
and dont they make some cool aftermarket side mirrors for our cars ? chrome with the built in turn signal like all of these newer cars?

Re: LED bulbs!
Don't know about the mirrors, surely someone makes them though. Here is what we are talking about, although the link is just for LED & not sequential.

Re: LED bulbs!
None that I've seen. I did find a guy with a 73 Chevelle that has sequential LEDs though. I invited him onto the site.

Re: LED bulbs!
I am looking to replace the dash lighting in my car with LED lights and was wondering if any of you guys have had any good/bad experience with this? I did it on my '67 and it was brighter but a weird very white light. I would really like to find a very bright LED bulb for the dash.
