My 1970 Chevelle SS 396
Well here is my pride and joy. I built this car from the ground up with my dad. I started on it when I was 15 and drive it every chance I get.
Its an original SS 396 L34 car. Still has the original 396 block, TH400 and 12 bolt.
The original Trans has performance kevlar clutches, a Shift kit, and a Redneck 3000 stall convertor
The original 12 bolt was originally a 2.56 posi rear end and now has 3 series posi with 3.31s
The original 396 engine has been bored .030 over to 407 (.030 over from factory 402) with TRW Forged Aluminum pistons, the original steel crank and shot peened rods, has summit racing hydraulic flat tappet camshaft, 840 Square port heads that are gasket matched and lightly ported, PP race single plane intake topped off with a 750 Holley DP.

That looks nice dude! I've always had a soft spot for 70 chevelles. That is until I got my 74. I still look at them, but I don't drool over them. I really love the flat black color!

Re: My 1970 Chevelle SS 396
yea ive been planning and designing my own brackets to run a low mount alternator and a passengers side mount procharger. And keep the AC and PS.
Hardest part is figuring out the intercooler.

i wish i had my 70 back
i owned a 70 for a few years (early 90's). it was a blast. i left the outside the way i got it (beat and rusty). i put a radical small block in it, and went street racing with it !! what fun to pull into the local pop stand in a car that looked like crap (light pea green (people ended up calling it MONEY GREEN) / green interior with bench seat and column shift) black ralley wheels with cheater slicks on the back (they never saw it coming) !!! i beat up on alot of people before it got a reputation around town. Not a day goes by that i dont wish i had it back (since you can buy every replacement part for it now)...but throughout that time i still had / and still have my first car...the 77 malibu classic

Very nicely done '70 Chevelle, Dan! I really like what you've done with the engine. Great parts combo there. Well thought out and well executed.

Re: My 1970 Chevelle SS 396
You always find more rust than you thought was there. Â My buddy went through that with a '71 442. Â Pretty much reused the roof, front bumper, and rf fender (after fixing some old slide hammer & mud job on the front of it) everything I mean everything needed patched or replaced.

Re: My 1970 Chevelle SS 396
Thanks guys, yea body guy looked at it and said all i needed was quarters so thats all i got, once the quarters were cut off i had to get the other stuff as well. its pretty much dont just needs some block sanding then I need to get my fenders patched up and mounted and get the door hinges fixed.
