That should be something that could be found in a JY. This Ebay seller unfortunately only has the upper chrome for the rear window but you could let him know what you are looking for. I assume the Laguna molding is the same as the Malibu?

Re: 73 laguna trim
I checked and nothing here in the wrecking yards. Nearest one is Fresno CA and may call them ? I was hoping some one on here may have one since most owners do away with vinyl tops

Re: 73 laguna trim
It's always a timing issue on these body parts that aren't reproed. Six months from now or six months ago there could be several available. Fortunately it's just cosmetic. If I see something I'll let you know. I would touch bases with the ebay seller I linked to,. He is the most consistent seller in terms of parting G3 cars I've run across.

Re: 73 laguna trim
I'm trying to understand what you mean by "breaking" the trim. Â Are you talking about the interlocking tabs on the corner pcs breaking away from the center piece? Â I've got a few trim pcs that I might be able to help with, but not sure if they are from a '73 or '74-'77. Â Or, if they are all the same? Â Let's start by getting me a part number that is embossed on the backside of the corner pcs and I can check with what I have.

Looking at pictures of the rear window of 73 Lagunas it looks like the same metal trim I have on my 76 Malibu. I assumed he broke the tabs as it would hard to break the metal trim, although it could get bent I suppose.

Re: 73 laguna trim
It'snot the tabs or the posts . The piece is 5 pieces there are 3 are straight with a slight curve and 2 pieces that connect 3 of them . I wish I had a picture

Re: 73 laguna trim
I figured it was the belt line moldings, but am still confused as to what is broken if the tabs and mtg studs for what I call the corner bend pcs are intact. Those are usually the ones that turn brittle from age and break during removal because they are pot metal. So, to summarize you have the (2) side trims that extend from the door openings along the upper qtr panels that connect to (2) corner bend trim pieces that then connect to the (1) long trim that runs along the back between the rear window and trunk lid (5 pcs total).

Re: 73 laguna trim
The corner piece has an insertion tab on either end that slide into the longer trim pieces and held in place by being crimped. They have to be removed as an assembly all the way around or else you run the risk of breaking the tabs. You need to access two screw nuts from inside the trunk on each corner and then gently pry the moldings upward to remove. I believe I've got the trims/corners you need, but we need to verify part numbers on the corner pieces and measure the long side pcs as I'm not confident they are off a full vinyl top or the landau style top (which would be shorter).
The corner pcs I have are part #9879402 (LH) and #9879401 (RH).

Re: 73 laguna trim
Yes this is starting to become clearer. I repeat my recommendation to lagunaman that he get all the service manuals, body manuals and parts manuals for the car to avoid these kind of mishaps.

Re: 73 laguna trim
Update to my previous comments...the corner pcs only have an interlocking tab on the end that connects and is crimped to the side trim moldings. Other end that joins with the long trim across the back are just designed for a simple overlap. Found two side trims in my collection where the corner tab had broken off and were still embedded in the end of the trim. So, you can salvage the long trim running across the back if it's in nice shape. I'd rather not try separating the corner pcs from the side trims, though.
