It’s funny to see a new car have a retail price of $5,000. What happened to the value of our money? When I started my senior year in 1982, I bought a 200,000 mile 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix. I remember how awesome I felt in that car. I can’t imagine getting a brand new car. Thanks for posting that. Cheers.

Great to see a window sticker in that shape michiganlarry. I like it.
Those born after '65 or so, will flip to see how little the options cost back then. Under $100 for swivel buckets? $113 for a 400 with a 4 barrel? Crazy huh? The summer of '74 is when I graduated high school. I've been a gearhead since I was probably 7 or 8 years old. So in the summer of '74 I went and looked at a couple of cars on the dealer floor. I looked at a Gremlin X. It had a 304 and auto. Sticker price was $3400. I couldn't afford that on $3.17 an hour. I can't imagine trying to afford the price of almost any car or truck if I was an 18-25? guy or gal these days. I tip my hat to those that can.

That’s awesome that you found the window sticker. I have been looking for 20+ years to find a copy of a 77 El Camino one, so I can make one for mine. I have made one on my own using the build sheet, but still would like to see an original. If I remember correctly GM did not put window stickers on their full size trucks in the 70’s-80’s, so maybe the El Camino’s did not have one either. Probably why I have never located one.

My first car was was a 73 Monte with 80k miles. Big dent in the front fender. Brown bottom with beige vinyl roof. Black interior...weird combo...but real.
This was 1984 , $600.00.
What freedom for a kid at 16 years old!!

Except for the AM/FM stereo for $233.00 – yowzah. That comes out to $1,463.00 today, and it didn't even have a tape player.
