First driving experience..Do you remember?
Grandfather is long gone.
SquaresCastle Cleveland Ohio.
I was probably 8 years old..1974.
I remember him putting me on his lap and letting me steer his 1971 Chevy caprice.
It was awesome!
I would ask him to open the secondaries and put me into my seat..cops and robbers!
LOVED IT

Re: First driving experience..Do you remember?
I only have a vague memory of my father putting me on his lap and letting me steer.
But I do remember the day I bought my chevelle, before I even had a license, and driving the 4 speed home. Never drove a stick before, just had an idea how it worked. But I didnt stall it out. LOL.

Re: First driving experience..Do you remember?
I did the lap driving with my dad. Then about 13 he would let me move the cars in front of the house. But the biggest thing was at 14 my dad had a super gas nova and he needed to drive it around to warm it up and he let me drive it around the pits with him my first time. Then it was me by myself after that. Made my first runs in a 90 mph street car at 15.

When I was probably 5-6 years old dad would sit me on the console of his 65 Impala SS and let me shift the 3 on the tree. About 14 he took me out to teach me how to drive the 77 El Camino, I had to make sure that I did not do to good of a job because I had been driving my sister’s 75 Firebird for several months! Mom and dad still talk about how I was a natural at driving. Lol!

Driving my dad's 75 Monte Carlo on his lap. Maybe 7 years old. He let me drive it in the driver's seat at about 12.

Grew up on a farm, started driving the three-speed on the column farm truck at age 10, first time a drove a car with an automatic was drivers training - I about threw everyone in the car through the windshield when I went to shift into second!

Mmmmm ... 1971 Caprice!
GREAT TOPIC!
Let's see ... for me.....
The 1st car I ever steered was my parents' (now my) 1981 Monte Carlo SC. Dad would let me "drive" it out of the garage.
The 1st vehicle I ever actually DROVE was an uncle's 1979 red-white Blazer in western PA, where my Dad grew up.
Cort, pig & cow valves with pacemaker
2003 MGM LS + 1981 cmc SC; want 1975 Chrysler Cordoba
