Anyone built their own paint booth?
Planning on setting up a paint booth at home.
Dedicated area inside a pole building.
Looking for some tips.
Like to be able to elevate the vehicle so I can get good coverage down low.
Need some kind of air circulation system and a system for drying the paint.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Anyone built their own paint booth?
Absolutely !!! Did it in Oct 2016. Used all 2x2 and 2x3 material. 4 mil plastic sheet from home depot. 3 cheap square box fans and a 10 foot roll of paint booth filter material. And also, home depot sells a zipper kit for plastic sheeting. Works like a charm and easy in and out. I had very little invested in it and then sold the whole booth on craigslist for $250. Air came in at the rear of the garage UP HIGH. You can put the filter on the outside or inside of the box fans, I dont think it matters. Air exited in the front of the garage DOWN LOW also with filter material on it. Heres some pics of the booth.

Re: Anyone built their own paint booth?
Pics of the results. I used Pro-Spray base coat and SPI (Southern Polyurethane Clear) Devilbiss Tekna Copper gun. I even shot the original Zolatone spatter paint in the trunk while I was in there. No top coat or clear coat needed on top of the Zolatone.

Re: Anyone built their own paint booth?
Thank you very much. No, nothing has been done on it since Oct. 2016 when I painted it. Its just sitting. Have a matter that takes all my attention. Thanks

Re: Anyone built their own paint booth?
No problem with that at all. I"ve several complete paint jobs in the driveway that came out awesome. I always say, its not custom painting, its custom sanding. Painting is the easy part.

Any paints that don't require sanding?
I may just try that mat finish...lol

Re: Anyone built their own paint booth?
You dont have to sand any paints. But if you want a nice smooth finish, you have to sand out the "orange Peel". On my last coat of clear I like to apply a flow coat. I just add a bit of reducer which thins it out a bit. Then lay it on as wet as possible so it "flows" nice and level. Thats how I got the shine on that hood pic. It still needs some blocking and buffing.
