1974 Grand Prix SJ in Alabama
Howdy from Alabama! I'm the proud owner of a '74 SJ that was given to me by a good friend of mine. While cosmetically rough, it runs and drives well. I've got handling upgrades in the works, as well as a forged rod/piston bottom end in anticipation of EFI and boost later down the road.

Welcome aboard sir.
Nice looking car for a starting point Travis. Any questions you have, don't be afraid to ask no matter how dumb it may seem. We've probably been down the same road at one point in time, so ask away.

Man, I had a '77 SJ in high school. My dad was a traveling salesman for a company in Texas. They bought if for him and he put 180,000 on it in 3 years. They sold it to him for $1000 and I got it. All red car. I like the one you got. Good luck.

Re: 1974 Grand Prix SJ in Alabama
Thanks, guys. This car comes with a HECK of a story, which I will sit down and type out one of these days.
While I know my way around wiring, engine building, welding/fabrication, etc (I build drag cars for a living), I know very little about these cars in particular. I'm really interested to learn what parts are common to other GM models (thank you GM for all the commonality of parts!!), and finding sources for some of the things that are tough with the Pontiacs, like interior/exterior trim. After lurking here for a couple weeks, it seems like a really good bunch of guys that is very willing to help out.
TQ

It'll blow your mind what suspension parts interchange with these cars. Look around in the "Tech" section and you'll see what sort of things fit. I'm running a front sway bar from a 2nd gen Z28/Trans Am W6 1 1/4" and a rear sway bar from a 94-96 Impala SS.
Like I said, it's crazy what fits these cars.
