rear seat removal
Hi Guys
I'm searching for the build sheets for my 76 Laguna.. after reading the posts there's a good chance that I would find one in the rear seat springs, as its a Baltimore built car..
I've taken out the seat cushion and now I've got to remove the seat back..
I think that I've got to undo the rear seat belt retractor bolts because it looks like they hold the bottom of the seat back ..
is this right?

Re: rear seat removal
you may want to climb under & see if it is possible to apply a little heat to the nut area. With a helper inside the car, the thing should come out easily. just watch for brake / fuel lines.

Re: rear seat removal
after massive effort to removed one 40 year stuck hex bolt with impact driver etc etc I finally got the rear seat back/uptight out.. and guess what? no build sheet lol.. all reassembled with copper grease on the threads for 40 years time lol..
I'm trying to find it as I want to register my Laguna as a historic vehicle with the government ... if I can prove to them that the car was made in 75, I won't have to pay them £250 a year to have it road legal and sitting in the garage .. the proof must be on paper from GM.. pics of the door stickers cowl plates etc they wont except .. what now?

Re: rear seat removal
The VIN number on the dash is best way to document the year and type of vehicle. No two vehicles ever get the same number.
Unless someone was messing around which I've run into especially with late model or high dollar cars.

Re: rear seat removal
thanks for that Joe but the only thing they will take notice of is gm paperwork .. all my numbers on the body, vin ,tags, door sticker are good and tell me it was made in the fifth week of oct 75, but I need it on paper. I've read that only Cadillac build records have survived on micro film to be copied on request.. individual plants like Baltimore disposed of the records.

Re: rear seat removal
That will be tough to do. Is there any way the police department can verify? They must have a way to identify Stolen vehicles.

Re: rear seat removal
if only I live in the states lol ... think I might have to take my tank down next and have a look there for the build sheet..

Re: rear seat removal
As far as I can tell, there is no reference to build date on the Build Sheets I have.

What about one of those restoration packets from gm historical?

Re: rear seat removal
