finally took it for a ride.. Empty finally took it for a ride..

I brought the '75 El Camino out into the light, and took it for a ride down the runway at the private airstrip where I restored it.
Since it's a grass runway, I didn't do any crazy stuff with it. I really wanted to see how the transmission shifted etc. It does run nice. The Caddy engine has great response for as big as it is. The Camshaft is fairly mild, with 274/282 duration, and 523/531 lift. CR is about 8.7:1, so pump gas works....
The tires & wheels on it are old stuff, so it wont get on the road until I get new tires for my new wheels.
Still doing a few small items on it, like cleaning the buffing residue off in seams etc....

It's been a long project, like since May of 2009 ! Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Enjoy the ride. I still remember the thrill after getting my 355 running or going for the first ride around the block. This has got to be even better . Smile

Thanks for the comments.  I have determined that it's gonna be fun to drive ! Very Happy  May even take on a few guys at the traffic lights ! Very Happy

I still have to bolt the frame braces in there yet.....
