Re: 1973 Laguna big block 4 speed
Do you think you could lower the car more without running into any rubbing issues?

He could lower his another 2" in the front, the hedders will drag before the tires would rub. I can't drive over speed bumps in parking lots with mine.

Yeah probably. The tires aren't even close to rubbing. But the issue you run into is the headers/ exhaust get real close to the ground. I probably have about 2 inches clearance from the ground on the drivers side header connection.

Are you going to run and LS set up again like your last ride?

Not on this one. nothing beats the sound and torque of a healthy big block
I just bought a 73 lemans the other day and picking it up on sunday. I'm already thinking of doing an ls swap in that one but we will see.

Re: 1973 Laguna big block 4 speed
My 73 SS I had in high school, the headers were crimped to less than half moon shape from bottoming out. We would drag race down a country road that had railroad tracks at the far end. Many a time I saw sparks in the rear view at the end of the race.G3NUT wrote:Yeah probably. The tires aren't even close to rubbing. Re: 1973 Laguna big block 4 speed
My headers used to hit all the time with stocks 14 inch wheels. Went to 15s and no more bottoming. But my car isnt lowered. If I would lower it Id probably use some mid length headers.

Great job! Curious, of 2 things:
-is your 4 speed shifter the original shifter? If so I'm curious to see the shape and the knob
-what happened to your Laguna front end? Looks like you put a standard front on with a bumper tuck?

Thanks.
No it's not the factory shifter. I have a hurst white knob on it.
Yeah I took it off and put a Malibu header panel and bumper on it. The Laguna nose was in ruff shape. Plus I was trying to take some weight off the front of the car. That friggin thing weights a ton.

Yep. I love the way it sits. I plan to shamelessly copy the stance whenever I get back to working on mine.
