The Children's Book Run

This “Back to School” edition of our annual charity rally to benefit the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children will help a child have a happier time while in the hospital, and give you a fun drive in the country. Course following will be easy, but going back to school will be tough. Be sure you know your colors and shapes, dust off your 3rd grade arithmetic, and review the alphabet, and you will be prepared.

• Rally Day: Saturday, December 6
• Starting Place: Honda Cars of Rockwall, 1550 E. I-30, Rockwall, TX 75087
• Finish location: Mellow Mushroom, 550 Interstate 30, Rockwall, TX 75087
• Registration/Check-In: 9:00 – 10:00 am on Rally Day
• Safety Briefing: 10:05 am
• Starting Time, First Car: 10:30 am plus your car number
• Finish Time, First Car: 2:00 pm, estimated
• Route: It’s a secret, of course, but expect to drive on scenic back roads; can you spell "Tawakoni"?
• Vehicles: Sports Cars, family sedans, anything with 4 wheels that’s street legal
• Rally Fee: $25.00 / SCCA Members: $20.00 / $5 late fee if not preregistered. In addition, each person in the car should bring a new children’s book as a donation. These will all be delivered to Scottish Rite Hospital in time for Christmas.

• Special for Honda owners: Honda Cars of Rockwall will pay the entry fee for the first five Hondas who register online!
• Awards: First Timers, Novices, and General Class
• Master Class for those who don’t want any more trophies

Twelve cars have entered the Children's Book Run as of this evening. That makes me expect nearly 30 by rally day. Cars include a BMW Z3 M Roadster, a Honda S2000 roadster, a Thunderbird, a WRX, oh yes, also an F150 pickup! The rally "classrooms" are ready for you, as is the Mellow Mushroom awards ceremony location...I think you will like this restaurant. I have been testing it out since they agreed to host us, and it's a neat place. The upstairs room is plenty big, and has its own bar. Ten-day forecast says Saturday will be 69 degrees warm: how's that for December? Just go to msreg.com/CBR14dec and join us!

Breaking news: I was just notified that one of our regular entrants will receive the second place trophy in Sportsman class for the 2014 SCCA National Rally Championship.
