Re: Custom part show off
I'd try mcarlo77, maybe Laguna budman, or brainstain as they are the parts guys. 73454monte is also but mostly for montes.

Re: Custom part show off
Once I got the anodizing off (a major p.I.t.a.) I wet sanded the aluminum and polished it to a (almost) chrome finish.

I like the look. Got a shot of the whole thing? That would be even more awesome if you could angle them toward the driver. I am blind so I would have too!

Re: Custom part show off
One thing I just remembered, you need the brackets that bolt to the core support to run that grille as they are different.driveit wrote:Know anyone that has a spare 77?

So what do you have in place of the oe gauges?

Re: Custom part show off
Can't see it in the pics but the gauges are angled towards the driver, can see them perfectly when driving.
The factory gauges are still in the cluster, fuel gauge speedo, along with the factory idiot lights in the cluster. Just a dark pic.

Alternator belt tensioner bracket
Made this alternator belt tensioner brace out of stainless steel and heim joints. Solved my loose belt problems.

Re: Custom part show off
That is a great idea for the alternator. I may have to try that for my power steering pump. There is an incorrect bracket on there now that doesn't keep tension properly.

Here is the mount I made for my MSD box. I had to lay it flat so the adjustments would be accessible.

Re: Custom part show off
While I didn't make this I did trim a bit off to make it look better (and lighter) afterwards I learned it now looks like what was on pre'73 motors. All engine brackets are powder coated black.

For next time, Eastwood makes a water-based anodize remover in quart size:

Re: Custom part show off
Good to know. I spent several hours wet sanding it off. There are several you tube videos of people using lye (ie drain opener) but that seemed to dangerous for me.

Second that. My bracket looks like crap. I made it with a piece of allthread some nuts and a peice of another bracket from something.

Re: Custom part show off
Not really doubles, been so long since I've actually looked at what the factory
Ones are! They aren't gauges just those idiot lights in a round circle... Have Generator, clock whatever the other two are.
