a few questions on engins and headers Empty a few questions on engins and headers

Ok working on my engine, assembly that is. I have a 75 El Camino that came with a 350 4 barrel carb from as near as I can figure came out of a 81 Z28 with a cast iron intake. The goal is to get it as close to being a 75 as I can as far as what went on it. Mostly just so I don't have too much of a hogepoge of parts should I need to replace something down the line. What I am wondering is how many people are running with the original intake and heads but also have headers, and what kind and size like long or short for fitment. I'm not wanting to run too much of the emissions stuff like a cat but I kinda want to use the EFE (Early Fuel Evaporation) system going to the heat riser into the intake but not sure if that will work with headers.

Also if anyone has pictures of their fully assembled engine as far as locations of what gets bolted on the front. The bottom left bolt hole in my block is broken in half and not sure if anything is supposed to bolt there. or if that would be something that would be extra.

its the left side in the picture, engine upside down, opposite side of the fuel pump that has half a bolt hole that I'm curious if its needed.

Sounds like a good plan to keep things stock looking. Plus, from a cost perspective that can be beneficial as well. You start getting into the high performance realm and things can get expensive and parts breakage etc.
There's  no reason why you can't use the 4bbl iron manifold and retain the heat riser with Hedders. Personal preference as to long or short style. Suggest maybe finding a used aluminum dual plane manifold (edelbrock performer) is a good one, still has the heat riser, paint it to look like a cast manifold..... It would just flow A LOT better than the restrictive iron one.
Nothing bolts to that hole in the bottom of the block.

The hole above that one is usually a thru hole to hold the fuel pump pushrod in position when you slip the fuel pump into the side of the block. Oil will leak out of that upper hole just thread in a short 1/2 long bolt in that hole. It'll be 3/8 NC threads in the block.
