Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
I love the hood on that last one. I was lookin at a stinger hood yesterday and was wondering how that would look without the point coming out of the front of the scoop. I have saw scoops like that but they are always to narrow I think for the look I am wanting.

I love that white one. I got several other pics of it on my Google drive.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
That guy is good. I wonder how long her spends on those. I know it takes me hours, but I do it all by hand. He probably has better software and starts with an auto trace then adjusts it and starts his designs from that.

Put the wheels off the green one above it and I am all for it. Something weird about the rear bumper though.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
He should be good. If I'm not mistaken, he was employed in the GM Design Center for quite awhile.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
Found this online...Supposedly a 77 H/O Prototype which never came to be.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
Probably since the car got a full redesign for '78, they didn't put too much in the out going body. Did you know in '77 the intermediates (g3 a bodys) were heavier than the new redesigned (for '78) b bodys? That is also why there was pretty much nothing changed from '76 to '77...the body was considered obsolete.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
Nascar kept them going until the early 80's, so it just goes to show GM has often been wrong. Going from a 73-77 GM A to the G body style (prior to 1983) is like being forced to be your cousins prom date.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
One of the biggest fail's was in 1988 when the  w body, replaceed the g body, which was still a hot seller.  the '88/'96 w body's were junk.  The elimination of the caprice (pretty much giving the police/taxi market to ford  for the next 15 years) was a pretty dumb move also, especially since the caprice (and impala SS) were hot sellers.  The caprice would have sold better with a little marketing, when (after about '84) was a Caprice ever pushed on the public as a good family car?  They chose to sell forgettable cars like luminas, celebritys, and Corsicas.Â

I had a 90 Corsica with the 3.1L V6 -- it wasn't exciting to look at, but front-wheel burnouts were easy entertainment.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
My dad had a '89 corsica ltz 2.8 that was the same way. One of my former dd's was a '98 malibu with a 3.1 and that thing was pretty fast considering it wasn't suppost to be a performance car.thatfnthing wrote:dynchel wrote:Â They chose to sell forgettable cars like luminas, celebritys, and Corsicas.Â

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
There were supposedly plans and a kit that you could buy to convert a car to a 77 H/O. Â This was on EBAY awhile back:

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
Hey Doc, check it out- the prototype is alive & well apparently in Michigan. Here is a link to pics I found online (46 of them!)

Copy of the Hurst Performance "Reconstructed" Title:

Looks pretty legit to me & VERY well cared-for. Would this be the rarest of the rare G3's?

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
On the EBAY one, the seller had a photocopy of an article about the parts that you could buy to make your own-I wish I would have saved the image. The car was actually on EBAY twice. It was rough, but certainly salvageable. I think it went for around $2500. This was one of those "still born" factory efforts, so it is a rare car.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
My friend had a deposit on that car in 1977,when it was going to be delivered to the dealer the program was scrapped and his money returned the only one (that car) was also damaged in a slight fender bender. He saw it at the Hurst Olds nationals (he has a 69) and told the current owner about the damage and the guy went nuts since he knew there was some work done but not sure why.

There was an article on the "how to build one" kit in the July, 1977 Car Craft.

I like it, but I think it needs the quarter window.

Re: G3 Concepts & Renderings
I like the windows gone with the T-top set up, fast-back rear window & the partial vinyl roof with that special trim piece. Not sure how I'd feel about it without the T Tops. Â Â
