dented dream getting new life
Ok, so its been a while since I have updated everyone on the Chevelle since the wreck. I have gotten most of the dents pulled and banged out. I have gotten a few coats of filler added in and worked down. I have few more to go for the quarter panel behind the and in the wheel well. I still have to work out the one in front of the wheel. There is a lot more rust there than I knew. I wonder how bad it will be when I pull off the chrome tonight. Btw, does anyone know how to take off the strip down the middle of the doors and side as well as the chrome at the bottom? I am going to try and take it all off and smooth it all out.
Thanks everyone in advance. Pics of progress to come soon!

It should just be clips with maybe 2 screws inside the door jam right on the end sort of where the flange is. Be careful popping off the clips try and gently grap them from the bottom of the moulding and pull up.

Chilling back now and enjoying the car .driveit wrote:Itchin' to go home and get to work on it again.

Re: dented dream getting new life
I have gotten all of the suspension parts that I ordered except the drop spindles. I am also still waiting on the front spoiler which is scheduled to come today.
Got my stereo installed with the new rear speakers.
Alpine 135 Stereo with Memphis Power Reference speakers. It sounds awesome. It does need a little bit of a speak in the front and I had a friend who is selling me a set of Kenwood 6.5 inch round speakers. I will need to build some kind of box. Anyone saw a kick panel box for a g3 chevelle?
Got the rear Spoiler and hope to install it tonight. I will take pics so everyone can see the progress. I know I have a lot to update you guys on.

Re: dented dream getting new life
Got the front spoiler when I went home for lunch.
I held it up so that I could look at it and I think it will look nice once I get it on there!
CAN'T WAIT..... I NEED TO BE SENT HOME EARLY FROM WORK TODAY!!!

Re: dented dream getting new life
Attempted to install the front spoiler last night and it is like 4 inches too wide on each side. I don't know what I will have to do to make it look right. Ugh....
On a lighter note. I installed the rear spoiler. Looks good. I think in the future when my body working skills improve I will do a little work to make it fit a bit better, but I am happy with the look. When I get to a place where I can use the net on my home computer I will upload some photos!

Re: dented dream getting new life
Make a cardboard template for the bumper so you can see where you may have to splice the spoiler for the car's contours. If you're not confident...wait until you are or have someone give you a hand (preferably someone w/ experience). There are a few guy's here that have done that or similar. There are a few threads on it...Doctor Larry's car comes to mind, he did a nice job w/ his might have even been the same Camaro spoiler in front.

Re: dented dream getting new life
Managed to install the front spoiler, though it is a little wide. I think it looks good. Fixed the hole behind the drivers door on the roof line, but it still needs a little finessing. I hope to get to work a little on the suspension tomorrow. EXCITED!
Car show was awesome. Ill start a new thread for that though!

Re: dented dream getting new life
So, here are a few updates for ya.
Here are a few shots of the dents. Â I missed the one with the dent in the exhaust tip.
Pulling it out little by little.
Fixed the dent in the exhaust! Then got bondo on it. I think I even hit it with the grinder once. 30$ and a new tip will probably come soon.
Filling the whole and dent. Â Hope it holds!
Somernites Cruise!
New front spoiler. Â Trying to decide how to make it fit a little bit better. Â Any ideas?
Can't wait to see all the new suspension on there and check out the stance. All I need is time.
Oh, and notice the whole that is missing behind the drivers door glass! Filled it too!
Here are a few shots of the Low Buck Long Roof car from Gears that was built by Holley.
Love that front bumper!
Tucked and narrowed.
Thats all folks. Â Hope that will do ya for a few days. Â Hopefully there will be much more to come in the near future.

Re: dented dream getting new life
Looks nice. Â I really like the spoilers, with a little work they will look really nice. Â Is the front one fiberglass or steel? Â if it is steel it could be cut and re welded. Â fiberglass can be modified also, although i have no first hand experience in doing so. Â Doc Larry seems to know how to do it, maybe he can offer some tips. Â I do really like the overall look you have going.

Re: dented dream getting new life
Thanks. The front one is plastic.

Re: dented dream getting new life
Plastic would be easy to cut down to size (section) Â the ends could probably be plastic welded back together with maybe a little filler on the front to hide the seam followed by a coat of paint. Â That would be about the only way that I can think of.driveit wrote:Thanks. Â The front one is plastic.

Plastic welder... I will look into that.

Re: dented dream getting new life
You would have to remove 2 small sections to bring the ends where you want them. Basically it looks like maybe three inches on either side. the same concept as the bumper on the Holley wagon.driveit wrote:Where is this cut?

Re: dented dream getting new life
Where did he chop it down at? I can't tell. Was it cut from the center or on the ends? I think it was from the center section.

Re: dented dream getting new life
probably outboard the turn signals. if you cut from the center the turn signals would no longer be centered under the head lights.driveit wrote:Where did he chop it down at? Â I can't tell. Â Was it cut from the center or on the ends? Â I think it was from the center section.
